CV Help to land first job in accounting

Following advice from my post yesterday I have shortened my CV and put on actual applicable skills instead of trying to make my CV look ‘fuller’ with skills I have in theory. I’m trying to land my first accounting role. Any advice is much appreciated.

Context:

75 entry level job applications , couple responses saying I’m an ideal candidate but too far from the job location.

~160 cold emails to firms , 30 to recruiters , and 30 to general businesses with finance teams

CV Help for first accounting role

Hi I’ve anonymised my CV for advice on landing a first accounting role. This CV seemed to get me a couple responses saying I’m a good candidate but I live too far from the job location. Any help is much appreciated.

~120 cold emails asking about helping in the upcoming tax season

How to make myself more employable

Hi just wondering how you guys landed that first job in finance. I’ve applied for 75 entry level roles and sen 120~ cold emails asking about helping out during the upcoming tax season. I’ve passed level 2 AAT and the FAPS exam in level 3 AAT so far. I’ve also done some Sage online training as well as a Xero course in level 2 AAT. Even this I get no responses from employers. I have no relevant accounting work experience but held a job for 4 years and another for 2 years (made redundant in August). I’m thinking of trying to get a quickbooks certification to see if that helps my chances but I feel quite hopeless right now. Any advice is much appreciated

Level 4 AAT or ACA Foundation

I’m currently doing level 3 AAT. My plan is to do level 4 afterwards as it grants exemptions for ACA. I have seen you can do ACA foundation or something though and was wondering what you guys did / recommend?

How to get the first job?

Hi guys. Really struggling to land an entry level role , applied for around 30-40 roles within 1.5 hour commute of where I live and I’ve not even got an interview. I am level 2 AAT qualified with a merit and start my level 3 studies next week.
Just wondering what your CV looked like before you landed that first finance role?
I’ve also emailed around 30-40 firms asking for work in the upcoming tax period and 90% haven’t even replied to me. Feel hopeless to be honest.

AAT Apprenticeship swap from college

Just wondering if it’s possible to get an apprenticeship while already enrolled on level 3 at college. My friend works at a firm on a level 4 apprenticeship and has given me the email of their careers person. Just wondering what would happen if I’m offered an apprenticeship for level 3 when already enrolled at college although unlikely.

Lack of jobs - hybrid roles the only option?

There’s a huge lack of jobs opportunities in my area (9-10 entry level roles within 30 miles). I have applied for all and obviously got little to no responses as I don’t have hands on accounting experience. I am studying towards my level 3 AAT starting next week.

I was wondering if it’s worth applying for hybrid remote entry level roles to up my chances of ‘getting my foot in the door’. What are your thoughts on this or do I just hope for more opportunities to arise in my area?

Lack of job opportunities

I live in the Lincolnshire area and there’s literally no entry level roles. I have applied for 9 roles within an hour commute and had 1 response. I have no hands on accounting experience so I don’t expect one however it feels impossible to get my foot in the door.

Additionally, there are 0 apprenticeships within a 40 mile radius. I applied for 1 and was denied so I’m studying AAT level at college beginning next week.

Can someone give me advice on what to do or should I just apply for anything I see and hope someone gives me a chance.

Lack of accounting job opportunities in the area

I live in the Lincolnshire area and there is a distinct lack of job opportunities for finance. I’m hoping to get a level 4 apprenticeship after I pass my level 3 AAT but this will require real work experience. There are opportunities an hour + away however. Should I just suck it up and apply?

Additionally, I have done Xero & Sage e-learning courses which I will add to my CV to give me a better chance. Is there any other CV advice you can give to me without having any relevant accounting work experience?

Recounting level 2 before level 3

I did level 2 4 years ago and started my level 3 and did the 40% exam. Can anyone help with where I should begin revising level 2 so that when I go back to level 3 I am ready. Thank you
