Hello
Is Paraplanner basically a technical support assistant to the financial advisor?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking for a full-time role in London as an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant, or Junior Accountant.
I have over 3 years of audit and accounting experience and I’m currently studying ACCA. I’m available to start immediately.
If you know of any vacancies or if your company is hiring, I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know.
Thank you very much!
Hey, i need help so basically recently finished my postgraduate degree in accounting and finance with a 2:1 in the UK. Won’t name university for obvious reasons. But been heavily applying snd sending cold emails to accountant firms and one actually said CV really good they just not hiring. So my question is i really wanna break into accountant studying ACA or ACCA and in future CPA. However I’m 22 so in UK after 22 can’t get level 7 apprenticeship. Should I keep trying to apply for entry roles and which so. Trying to get level 7 apprenticeship or a training contract or cold emails accountant firms. Lowkey feels like cause can’t get level 7 apprenticeship i’m very disadvantaged. What should I do?
I've just finished my A-Levels (Math, Bio, Chem), now I have to decide what to do with my life. Up until now (and even now), I have had no idea what degree to pursue or what career path to take. I've always been like this in stuff to do with career education, from choosing A-levels to my GCSE options. From my family, friends and elders I've narrowed down 2 fields. Compsci and Finance/Accounting, the only 2 that appeal to me and I don't mind either. My family are advising me toward accounting (ACCA), I don't mind it really. I need some advice on the degree, jobs, job market, career path and future.
How would I go about starting ACCA, what is the workload and the exams like, can i get a decent job with only ACCA and no degree, is it better to spend all that money on uni and qualifications for Compsci?
I just want a valuable qualification, comfortable job and salary (preferably remote work) and be able to work in Saudi (the end goal really).
We are the only two people within the accounts payable department at our company. I've only worked there a month but I was a finance apprentice before and have AAT Level 2 (distinction). He's worked here over a year but has no bookkeeping/accounts training.
We have some overpayments that have been floating around in the ether, some recent but some for years. We disagree with how to handle them.
He thinks either: Ask for a credit note and allocate that against an outstanding invoice OR ask for a refund and allocate that against an outstanding invoice. I think this is wrong both screwing up our suppliers accounts and then causing us to underpay on our next supplier run.
I think: we locate the source of the overpayment (not too difficult for recent ones because we have the statements saved and its usually a duplicate invoice on our system) and then we create a dummy credit on our system to reduce what we pay in the next supplier run to cancel out the overpayment.
I dont know how to explain it to him because he is very stern that he is right. Do I need to speak to our boss or should I try explaining it to him?
Forgot to add: he is being enabled because one of our suppliers is actually issuing credits like this.
TLDR: Colleague thinks we should correct overpayments (due to our mistakes) by asking for a credit note. Is he right?
So I just applied to a temp role, it's just data entry for a company moving from ERP to CRP... Got a call, took it, and it went well. Received email telling me I'll be shortlisted, 30-40 minutes later, get an email saying I wasn't a good fit? It's just data entry for a company moving from ERP to CRP...
Postgraduate accounting student here. How's the job market for audit graduate programmes? I am from Hong Kong with a BNO Visa so I don't need sponsorship. Would that help? Grades are fine but my postgraduate university is not one of those Russell Group. My gpa for undergraduate is 3.31/4, but that's in JP. Many of those jobs also ask for GCSE and A level grades. Again my grades are good, but they are exams in HK so I have to translate them into UK equivalent.
Overall, all my academics are fine on paper, but most of them are foreign, and I don't think the Visa alone is enough to convince firms to hire me. Luckily I am alone in UK so I can apply jobs nationwide, and it seems there are quite a lot of them. I am just very worried about my foreigner status because my past experience in Japan told me is a huge disadvantage.
Edit: typo
So I have just graduated in accounting & finance and did a placement year as a finance assistant (mainly purchase ledger clerk) but I got an offer today for a sales ledger clerk (£25k) however I have progressed to a 2nd stage face-to-face interview for an assistant accountant role which is what I much prefer with the salary going to be £25k-£30k depending on experience but I much prefer what I would be doing as this is more advanced that sales ledger clerk. I really have a good feeling I can get the assistant accountant role too with ACCA study support but nothing is guaranteed😬 Or is it silly accepting the offer then if I do get it, leave shortly after starting? Not sure…
