E-reader covers

What are we all using a e-reader covers or sleeves to keep are readers safe? I’m not keen on the official pocketbook ones, but I really want to keep my new verse pro colour safe as I tend to take my e-readers everywhere with me.

Ebook help

I brought a book off Amazon. Not kindle prime or anything. Straight out bought the ebook. Was able to download it to my pc because I made sure it was available in multiple formats (epub and pdf). Now I’m stuck. No matter what I try I can not get it to open on anything but browsers and even that is hit or miss. Won’t open with calibre or Adobe Digital Edition. I want to put it on my pocketbook to read but I’m just stuck. Any advice?

E-books on open systems e-readers

Does anyone know if it’s possible to put kobo books on say a pocketbook or even an old Sony device? I love the kobo store but I’m not keen on their devices. Currently got a kindle but don’t want to stay with Amazon so looking into pocketbook but a friend has offered me their old Sony device so might be going that way.
Also if anyone uses either of those brands of devices if you could give me your opinion of them I’d be grateful.

Pocketbook questions.

Looking to get away from closed systems and i like the look of pocketbook just wondering how durable it is? I don’t want a device that dies on me within a couple of years and is hard to repair. Also how much difference does sizing matter? I’m trying to decided between 6 and 7inch screens? Also how are coloured screens with pocketbook? I’ve tried coloured screens with kobo and found them really difficult to read on.

Jailbreak kindle 4 on Chromebook?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to jailbreak my kindle 4 using a chrome book? I don’t have a full pc set up so would have to use my Chromebook to do it but can’t find any information on how.

I’ve made it to the block Amazon part. But when it comes to the placing a file in the extensions folder I hit a snag. I don’t have an extensions folder. I tried putting it in the root instead and it shows up in the books but the states there isn’t anything in it.

None dmr books?

So I use a kindle 4 (because I love buttons). I don’t want to enter a closed system again and due to my Chromebook being a pain, can’t get calibre to strip dmr for me. So I’m searching for places I can buy books without dmr so I can sideload them.

Help setting up calibre properly on chrome book

I need someone patient will to basically hold my hand and guide me through this. I installed calibre onto my chrome book using Linux. First time doing anything with Linux. It won’t open using the short cut. I have to type in the longer code every time I want to open it. I tried to install the plug ins so I can deDMR books (especially books from google books and kobo after I’ve brought them) and have just hit a wall. Followed instructions found online and all I’m getting is a wall of writing and calibre freezing (see picture). I use an older kindle (kindle 4) and do not want to go back into and locked system. Can someone please guide me through what I’m doing wrong. I really am not good with tech.

Smell in snails room

I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing wrong. The area round my snails smells like an old pond even after I’ve cleaned them out. I live in a tidy bedsit so it’s basically making the whole room smell. I’m pretty sure it’s the moss that’s causing it as the coco fibre with added oysters shell doesn’t seem to smell until after the moss has been added or put in for the to hide in. Any ideas on how to manage the smell? Adding other insects to the mix isn’t an option.

Fonts

So I am putting books onto an old kindle 4. Managed to get calibre downloaded onto my Chromebook (which was a trial in and of itself). Now I need the only font I can comfortably read "open dyslexic". After alot of swear I get it into calibre via Linux (at least I believe I have) but when I use the covert book tool the books still has the same font as before. What am I doing wrong?

Snail pics to cheer me up

My snail was meant to be delivered today but due to some problem with the post it's ended up over 200 miles away. Can I have the funniest snail pictures you have to make myself feel better? I've been waiting for ages to get a snail and this just felt like a huge step backwards.

DRM books and how to strip them.

Where does everyone get their DRM free book and does anyone know how to get calibre on a Chromebook (if it's possible) if I need to strip DRM from a book? Been trying to work it out and been unsuccessful so figured I'd just ask.

Might be an odd kindle question

In theory would I be able to get a older kindle device, jail break it if needs be and just use it as side along? I don't get books direct from Amazon, all my books come direct from the author or other smaller bookstores. But I like the build of the older devices.

I'm pretty much sold on getting a libre colour. But I've seen quite a few people saying how fragile they are especially the screen. I'm a very clumsy person with motor ticks that sometimes effects my hands and I'm worried about damaging my ereader once I get it. What are the best ways people have found to protect their e-readers? What are the best case, screen protectors ect people have found. I prefer not to use flip cases if possible as I find them super annoying.

Are any of the android based e-readers any good at holding charge for longer periods of time? I'm breaking up with kindle and looking at getting myself a new e-reader. Am currently leaning towards a kobo but wondering if I might not be better getting a meebook or boox. But I really do need something with a good long battery life. Are android based e-readers any good battery wise or should I stick with going to kobo?

I'm trying to decide between kobo Libra 2 and the Kobo Libra colour. And wanted to see what others thought of the two. I know I want a colour e-reader (which I believe they both are) and from what I can tell they are the same size. Is there any big difference between the two?
