Unpopular Opinion: CORTIS reminds me of NewJeans
i know A LOT of people, especially bunnies arent gonna like this comparison but its just how "I" feel, you DONT have to agree with me, but no need to be rude about it either lol
so anyway, what im NOT saying here is that they’re on the same level. newjeans is literally a once in a lifetime type of group. the records, impact and cultural shift they had is honestly insane to even speak on.
but if we talking specifically about this current generation of kpop in 2026 and especially 5th gen boygroups? cortis def feels like one of the few groups bringing something refreshing musically and direction wise the same way newjeans did when they debuted.
and yes there are people who feel cortis are fresh and theres a lot of them who dont listen to rock, hiphop or experimental r&b outside of kpop, it is what it is, so if someone says they feel new, then thats that
theres also a lot of big musicians and actors in and out korea that are genuinely interested in them, and that reminds me so much of the way newjeans was pulling in attention from everywhere at their peak.
and the craziest part is they’re already making this much noise and history while being just 9 months into their career
obviously the boys still got a LONG way to go and their impact isn’t touching newjeans level, but pretending they haven’t made a name for themselves, broke/made records, set mini trends and already influenced the current boygroup scene at least a little bit, feels dishonest..
and if someone still dont get the point of my post, in simple terms:
cortis does not remind me of newjeans when it comes to their musical direction and visual concepts/style, and newjeans had a way bigger debut impact. but cortis gives me and a lot of others that exciting fresh feeling in kpop and has gained crazy success super fast in less than a year, and it reminds me of how newjeans gained crazy success fast and people felt they were fresh etc.
