Detail I never noticed

I was rereading the Tanabata story (since it's in a few days in Japan) and surprisingly I never noticed the tanzakus on Hinako's bamboo branch, I guess the infatuation with Soun didn't subside after all XD

The manga, candy and toys ones though? Same

Some of my favorite bits from the S3 trailer + manga panels

The trailer is stacked with stunning and colorful peeks, but these are my personal highlights. I love the way the panels are brought to life so faithfully and beautifully while still adding the colorful fluidity that comes with animation.

New characters from the S3 PV (manga/anime)

I really like how everyone looks, I especially like Tsubasa's vibrant color scheme and Sentaro's design, but overall my most favorite thing is how colorful and expressive they all look, mappa truly captured their essence so well!

For those who have read the manga, we know these characters are>!comedic one-offs!<, but they bring a good time during their >!brief!< stay nonetheless.

Which of these is your favorite in terms of the design and colors chosen for the anime?

Ranma, Akane and Ryoga's VAs for this Friday's stream

I always get whiplash (complimentary) whenever I see them talk because I *see* grown people but all I hear is their 16 years old characters chatting and giggling XD

I can't wait for what's about to be unveiled this Friday during Mappa's stream for its 15th anniversary and to see the full thing as well (and see if I can try to translate too)

Love the variety in Akane's wardrobe from the manga to the anime

One of my favorite details about the manga is the amount of stylish outfits in it, especially Akane's, Takahashi's sense of fashion in that era is great and seeing the anime bring all of them to life with beautiful color palettes, even those worn for like 1/2 panels, is something I love to see.

These are only some of my favorites that appeared (so far), do you have a favorite between these?

Ranma in Mappa's 15th anniversary lineup

Ranma is among the projects on the lineup to reveal new information in honour of the studio's 15th anniversary, the stream will take place on June 19th on MAPPA's YouTube Channel, which 100% means S3 info.

The stream includes a program with new information and a special segment featuring the cast, which for Ranma½ will be: Kappei Yamaguchi (Ranma Saotome ♂️), Noriko Hidaka (Akane Tendo) and Kōichi Yamadera (Ryoga Hibiki).

The anniversary section on the website also mentions exhibitions and newly drawn merchandise for later on, hopefully Ranma will be included there as well.

Comment from Takahashi on Ryoga (fanbook)

So I was rereading the translation of the character profiles from the fanbook and I find the answer and comment she gave here interesting.

How do you interpret that part about the "more hot blooded, energetic shonen character compared to Ranma" ? I have my theories, but I am curious to see your takes.

"Would you like to stay?"

Anytime I reread the manga and reach these parts, I can't help but always think of Mulan's grandma XD

What I think a collab with Sanrio would look like (Fan edit)

Ok so, just for fun as fan of both, these are the characters I envision would go with each Sanrio mascot I think fits best in a *hypothetical* collab, so beware, this is my fan edit only and does in no way link to an actual imminent collab) :

Ranma ♂️ x Pochacco: the black ears remind me of his pigtail and he's wearing a red shirt. Pretty self-explanatory.

Akane x Cinnamonroll/My sweet piano: As you can see, I was indecisive with this one, so I ended up putting 2 XD; Akane's trademark colors in merch are pink and light blue, which are Cinnamon's role eyes and cheeks, plus he's got that absolutely adorable vibe to him that just screams Akane to me, *but* at the same time, so does My sweet piano, who's way less known than Cinnamonroll but also has super strong Akane vibes with her fluff reminding me of her hair added with the pink which is, as I said, her trademark color. Both are fine but I genuinely couldn't make my mind lol

Ranma ♀️ x Kitty White (Hello Kitty) : In most collabs I see, she goes to the MC and since Ranma's has the advantage of having 2 forms in merch, she'd go to his female form 100%, and with kitty's iconic red ribbon calls back to Ranma's hair, plus his female form is often drawn in catlike attires due to the Nekoken, a perfect match. Also, fun fact, they have shared the same seiyū (Megumi Hayashibara) for decades.

Ryoga x Pompompurin : He's yellow, iconic and he's very cute. Enough said.

Genma x Pandaba: Genma's panda form is pretty much the mascot of Ranma so I thought it only made sense to include him, and this Sanrio character, while extremely unknown, fits the role perfectly. I also thought of Badtz-Maru since he is more known and has a similar vibe but not nearly as this one. I mean it's a panda with a grumpy expression, if she doesn't scream Genma I don't know what does.

Mousse x Pekkle: A duck for a duck, sounds about right yes? I really can't see him as anything other than a white bird so here goes.

Shampoo x Kuromi: Kuromi's prominent color is purple/dark purple, the pointy ears and bells around her collar remind of Shampoo's hair too so I think it's an appropriate match.

Ukyo x Usahana: Honestly? Didn't put much thought in this one outside of pure vibes; the orange accessories on their heads plus their names starting both with U are a funny coincidence though. I briefly considered My Melody as well but she doesn't really give Ukyo at all (to me)

Theory on Sōun's character's inspiration

Previously, I made a post about the confirmed meaning and origins behind the Tendō family members being all named after descriptive cloud terms, typing his name (早雲) in japanese and see it means stratus cloud. [Link to the post in question: https://www.reddit.com/r/ranma/comments/1soxa11/tendo_sisters_names/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button]

Anyways, unlike the previous post, this is a mere speculation on my part since, as much as I am aware, Takahashi has never said anything about it, so keep in mind that this is my own theory regarding the origins and inspiration behind the character's name and design and has no official confirmation;

While looking for Sōun (層雲) 's name and its meaning, I stumbled into the figure of Hōjō Sōun (早雲), a daimyō, aka powerful lord from the feudal era, first head of the Hōjō clan, one of the most powerful clans in Japan's Sengoku period (Inuyasha says hi lol)

Given that Sōun is often wearing a very resembling attire throughout the manga when he enters fight mode or gets angry I always assumed this was the main thought when naming and designing the character; but name and occasional armor aside, his face, hair and mustache are also a factor.

And nothing, I found it interesting and thought to share :)
