Bathtub suddenly gurgling occasionally when I use bathroom sink
Every now and then my bathtub makes a gurgling sound when I use the sink. I'm assuming it's a partial block somewhere in the system? I've had my fair share of total clogs here (probably about once a year or so). I want to take care of this early if that is what I'm dealing with.
I've never had luck with those 2' drain snakes but read that I can use baking soda and vinegar to break down minor clogs from stuff like soap scum or toothpaste. Don't want to risk that if it could make the problem worse. Live in an old house and I rent so I don't know how the plumbing is here.
Also curious if pouring straight dish soap down to loosen drains is actually true or not as I read that online. I don't understand how that would work because drains can get clogged from old soap etc
Have made the mistake of using chemicals like Drano in the past to try clearing full clogs so I'm really hesitant to pour random stuff down my drain.
Any tips? Considering calling a plumber to get it snaked by one of those super long ones because I've seen my landlord do that before but am afraid of that damaging anything
