Do I have grounds to apply for citizenship?

Hi everybody,

My paternal grandfather was Hungarian, he was born in Budapest in 1938 and left during the revolution. He came to England where he married my grandmother, they had children, one of which being my father.

I have their wedding certificate, as well as my father’s birth certificate and my grandfathers death certificate.

However, my father was not raised by his Hungarian father, and I only met him a handful of times. And my father (when he was alive) changed his name from the name on his birth certificate to a new one. Which means that the name on his birth certificate, does not match the name of the father on my birth certificate.

However, I’ve always been fascinated by Hungary, I’ve visited many times and would like to potentially study there. The reason I am considering applying for citizenship / a passport is to make this process easier.

Do I have grounds to apply? And if so what would be my immediate next steps?

Ghosted by a recruiter

I had a pre interview / initial interview with a recruiter and it went really well. One week later, they emailed me on saying they’d love to invite me to a follow-up second stage technical interview with a more senior member of the team, they said they’d get back to me by the following day. I replied thanking them for getting back to me and asked some preliminary questions (nothing crazy just if it was online).

I have now not heard back from them since this initial invite email, it’s been over 10 days, and over a week since the date they gave me for sharing more information.

In total I’ve sent three emails in responses, my first initial reply, one towards the end of the first week inquiring about the dates, and one a week later asking for a predicted time frame.

I’m not going to send a fourth one as they are clearly now ghosting me. But is this a common practice in the recruiting world? They invited me for a follow up interview and then never reached out again?

I feel quite disheartened as the initial interview went really well, I was excited about the company and looking forward to this follow up interview.

Masters in Spain as British citizen

Hi all!

I’m looking for some advice on pursing my masters in Spain. I graduated first class in Sociology from a Russel group university in England in 2022, and since then have 4 years experience working in CRM, and cloud based customer engagement platforms.

I’m now looking to return to my studies and complete a masters. I’m not too committed to any certain masters program, I just miss studying and would like to get back into it.

However, as a British citizen, I don’t know a lot about the different universities and fees. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on any routes I could take to pursue this.

I’d be happy with:

- A regular masters program

- An integrated masters program

- Any companies that offer work and support a masters during

- or any companies that are internship/apprenticeship based

Essentially, I would like to continue to learn in some capacity, whether it be sociological or otherwise. But I am looking for more affordable routes or scholarships etc.

Thank you!

Masters as a British Citizen

Hi all!

I’m looking for some advice on pursing my masters in the Netherlands.

However, as a British citizen, international fees in the Netherlands are quite expensive. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on any other routes I could take to pursue this.

I’d be happy with:

- A regular masters program

- An integrated masters program

- Any companies that offer work and support a masters during

- or any companies that are internship/apprenticeship based

Essentially, I would like to continue to learn in some capacity, whether it be sociological or otherwise. But I am looking for more affordable routes or scholarships as I cannot afford to pay €20,000 in masters fees.

Thank you!
