Unfair

After a longer break, I played Evo again, and I’m even more furious with Kunos now. The driving feels amazing, especially the road cars, absolutely incredible. However, I tried an AI race and ended up rage-quitting after a few attempts.

Everyone knows the AI is dumb, but any contact with an AI car that isn't side-to-side makes you lose balance and control, which for me always ended up in the ditch. It's so frustrating. I really hope Kunos doesn’t completely fuck this game up. I just want the racing AI to be similar to or slightly better than in ACC thats all.

Massarutto talked about freedom and playing the way we want, so they should give me tools for it: proper racing AI and a custom championship mode (e.g., setting up our own scoring system, different classes). If they do that, this will be my go to game. There must be some actual content, depth, and something to keep me hooked besides just the driving itself.

But I’m afraid it won’t happen. I hope I’m wrong about Kunos and their management, and that they’ll surprise me positively, which won't be hard right now, because I’ve completely lost faith in them.

EDIT: In the comments, people are arguing: 'Why criticize or expect anything from them? It's unfinished, it's early access.' I'd love not to criticize Kunos, but it's impossible.

When will it be okay to criticize them? After version 1.0, or when they stop supporting the game? This isn't some community project, a company is selling a product, and as a consumer, I have expectations. We need to hold companies accountable because the lack of accountability is exactly why almost every game nowadays (not just racing games) comes out broken

Oh boy, this Evo...

The game might be unfinished, but hey, at least it doesn’t even launch.

I tried to start a race at Brands Hatch and it kept crashing to desktop with a no memory error. I started with 24 rivals, scaled it down to 7, and finally got it to run. It feels like this game does everything in its power to keep you from playing. It truly is a Hotlap Simulator, one lap with the AI (feels like train/rail sim) was enough for me to quit. Nice menus though, since I spent more time there than on the actual track.

But seriously, what's the channel for bugs and glitches? True to early access, I'd like to leave some feedback so they can fix their game

Edit: Don't downvote me, it's a genuine question :)

Edit 2: I found the feedback form, wrote about what's bothering me, and now I'll wait for results

Loose Observation

Is absolutely nothing interesting happening with this game to the point where this sub is just being flooded with clips of people's stage runs, speedruns, and hill climbs? I wonder if the next update will actually bring something fun or interesting to do, so maybe people start dropping topics that aren't so bland

I'm wondering about the current prices on Bandcamp

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that over the past year, the prices on Bandcamp for digital releases have skyrocketed? For example, Sa Pa is selling their latest EPs for £10, and the EP only has four tracks. Vril recently released a single track that costs €2.50 for less than 5 minutes of music. There are plenty of other examples. You used to be able to buy a full LP for £10.

Has inflation hit here too?

New to AMS2: Issues with snap oversteer on corner exit

Hi, I'm very new to AMS2, and my first impressions are highly positive.

However, I wanted to ask about rear traction. No matter what car I drive (RWD, FWD, 4WD), sometimes a Porsche handles better than, for example, a Volkswagen (RWD vs FWD). I feel like the car just wants to spin out. To be more specific, it happens during acceleration when exiting a corner, the car wants to spin out, and it's heavily oversteering. Once I get into a slide, it's extremely difficult for me to recover.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the car setup, the game's physics, just my skill level, or maybe it's normal.

Are there any ways or tips to get this under control?

Edit: This game is so cool! I'm mostly a singleplayer, and finally, there's AI that I can really race against, fight for position, and everything. Moving from AC to AMS (in terms of AI) is day and night :)

And when you change the date to autumn, for example, and the trees lose their leaves and the grass fades, it completely blows my mind

Out of the loop: Any word on the update?

Does anyone happen to have any news about the update? I'm not on Discord, the other socials are quiet too, and there hasn't been a Q&A like usual, so I'm not sure if I missed something.

Why is racing AI so hard to get right?

I have a genuine question about AI development in racing games. Maybe someone here has experience with game programming and can explain this to me.

Why is it so difficult to make racing bots? Kunos did a OK job with the AI in ACC. So why does the AI in the ACE feel dumber than in a game released years ago?

Also, is it possible for developers to implement something like Gran Turismo's Sophy AI in titles like ACE, or is that tech locked down?

Would love to hear some technical insights on this!
