How slow is too slow for a race?

How slow is too slow for a race?

My partner runs and I am working on my fitness and would like to eventually join him. In the fall, he’s doing a marathon. I would like to sign up for the 5km so I can compare it to next year. The problem is I am not at the running stage yet and won’t be for a while. I currently weigh around 350 pounds (down from 460). I would be slightly faster than this time because I won’t have the dogs with me, however, I will still be slow. Will I bother other runners if I walk the course?

Added to clarify: the marathon and 5km are under the same race. There’s a 5km, 10km, half, and full marathon at the same time!

Possible arthritis after DKA?

I was hospitalized in early May due to DKA, as a type 2 diabetic, caused by medication (Jardiance). Spent 5 days in the ICU, ketones were 6.9, have no memory of 3-4 days. It was a rough time. After being released from the hospital I was told I may feel weak and would need to build strength again. It’s been going well, except I am sore. Like can barely move when I first get up (from bed or just sitting), very very stiff. The diabetic clinic seemed concerned this afternoon and they booked me for an appointment with the diabetic specialist for two weeks times, a rushed appointment as they are booking her regular appointments for the end of October.

They suggested I take Tylenol Arthritis for a few days and stop, to see if there’s a difference. In two weeks time, they will determine if further tests should be run.

Has anyone experienced this? What helps you with stiffness?

I finally feel like things are going well

Since being released from the hospital after a 5 day ICU stay due to DKA, I’ve struggled with getting my blood sugar in range, even when really monitoring my carb intake. Eventually I was advised to increase my insulin intake, which made losing weight more difficult. I was feeling so frustrated, exercising 2+ hours a day and seeing minimal changes (and weight gain).

After 3 months, I am finally seeing change. I’ve been going low at night so last week I decreased my insulin, and I’ve already lost 4 pounds. I increased my carb intake a few days this week just due to life and convenience, and I’ve still been in range.

Thanks to everyone who post in this group! I appreciate all of the comments on my posts, but also reading everyone else’s posts. I enjoy getting tips from everyone but also seeing struggles so I don’t feel alone. This is a rough disease.

ETA: my target is 3.9-9.0, which is 70-162

Disability tax in Canada- do you qualify with type 2 diabetes?

Someone mentioned to me that I may qualify due to recent complications. I did not think type 2 were eligible. Any type 2 with success?

Do particular exercises lower your blood sugar better than others?

What works best for you?

I work in an office setting and would love suggestions, if anyone has any, for movement suggestions that fit an office setting.

At home I have been loving my rebounder first thing in the morning and right before bed. It seems to help with my overall day. A very brisk walk after high carb meals also seems to work pretty well for me, but unfortunately isn’t realistic during my work day

CGM alarmed that my blood sugar was low, but now it doesn’t show low?

The alarm rang around 3:30am and 5:00am. When I opened the app it showed 3.2 (58) and 3.9 (70) respectfully. When I opened the app this morning, neither are showing below the low line. It is a new sensor- could it be faulty? Is it just a glitch?
