Completed after 28 Hours of Game Play. What a top-notch game!
So I am not a gamer. I bought 'Can You Solve this Murder' book by Anthony Johnston three weeks ago. I am a huge Agatha Christie fan and loved solving it. Went to ChatGPT to ask for similar adventure puzzle book suggestions. It suggested two games - Case of the Golden Idol and The Return of the Obra Dinn.
Played the former over 5-6 days, and liked it lot as well, but have to say Obra Dinn made me behave like a kid and continue playing for hours on end.
Round 1 - Unlocked all memories first. Took me a while, since I was slow at figuring out the game mechanics. For eg, didn't realize the footsteps represent us LOL till about 3 hours.
Round 2 - Went systematically from Chapter 1 and started taking notes (In Blue Pen) I think I got to 36 fates like that.
Round 3 - Also started from Chapter 1 again and solved the remaining. Markings in Pencil.
I had an amazing and thoroughly satisfying time solving this mystery. I feel like I got to know all these characters and feel so bad for so many of them. The soundtrack will live in my brain rent-free forever. It adds so much to the atmosphere.
What I also loved is that the game trusts your intelligence but also is quite fair. I am sure most of the things must be very familiar to regular gamers but even for me, after the first hour of 'what is going on?', I got the hang of it.
Like most people who have played, I wish I can forget it so that I can play it in a few years.
