Took a few more days to get here than I thought (it was stuck in California for three days for some reason, I’ve never had an IST book’s delivery overshoot an entire state before) but she’s here!
This is gonna be a great week lmao
Just came back from a trip and got these bad boys in the mail, the trades I just happened to pick up today (and ngl I’m kinda proud of finding that Infinity Crusade Volume 2)
Had to take an impromptu trip up to Canada for a funeral, but we have a couple days downtime before, so I checked out a few stores in the area, not expecting much (it’s a pretty small town), and got some pretty great finds all things considered. That Runaways was listed at American cover in CAD, I couldn’t say no to that.
After… literally exactly four weeks, I finally got my Funaticals Memorial Day purchase in! Now my ROM set is complete!
Also included are a few pickups I’ve made in the interim, Guardians by Ewing and Saga were con pickups (Guardians was half-price, Saga came from the same booth and the vendor offered it to me for $25), the Guardians by Cates OHC I found at an LCH I hadn’t been to before and was more than happy to pick up to complement the Ewing run, and Blacksad was a gift from a friend after picking some stuff up for him at the con.
So you might remember back in March, I posted about picking up a full run of Excalibur at my LCS. Well, three months later, I can proudly say I’ve collected the remainder of the series, the five one-shots, the Weird War III graphic novel, the 4 issue X-Calibre miniseries, and the 4 issue miniseries from 2001, plus (not pictured) 13/36 of the tie-in issues reprinted in the omnibuses. This is gonna be a fun read.
…now I need to find another series to collect straight through lmao, maybe I’ll try to finish out Generation X
Not as crazy as yesterday’s lmao, New Mutants was a bit of a surprise to me but hey, I got the MGN, I might as well scrounge up the first couple issues lmao.
Had a lot more time on the show floor today so I wound up getting quite a bit this time. Standouts include that Saga compendium for $25, pulling the full Anarky mini and ongoing from a single dollar bin, and Archie Meets Punisher, a book I’ve been looking for for like, a solid decade.
Found this sucker for $15 at a local con, open box, sealed bags! Never had a Technic Figure before so I couldn’t pass it up
Also She-Hulk. She cost almost as much as the set lmao
Today was only a half day on the floor but I got a lot, including a few things on my want list that were genuine long-shots. The three trades on the right were from the con, all half-off, the three on the left were an eBay lot that came in yesterday so I’m just lumping ‘em in.
Plus sigs from Chris Claremont and Jimmy Palmiotti and a remarque from Amanda Conner!
I’ve been absolutely eating through my TBR lately lmao, but I got a con next weekend that I can hopefully get some new stuff at I say as there’s a full run of Excalibur on the other side of my bedroom waiting for me to plunge into
I got this book new, sealed from Ollie’s (I live nowhere near one, I asked my parents to get it since they happened to be up near one), and it’s been doing nothing but sitting on my shelf for the past six months and I’ve only just now gotten to it, somehow I never noticed the giant ripped out corners on four pages in the middle of the book.
Ah well, if it really bugs me (and it kinda does, I’m missing a few lines of dialogue), I’ll be up in New York within reasonable walking distance of… the same Ollie’s next week, if they have it I can always grab another.
Did an LCS crawl with a friend of mine and came out with some neat stuff! The store I got Groo from had up to #11 unbroken but about a third of those issues were $10 instead of $5 so it would’ve stacked up pretty fast lmao.
My dad spent the past week up in Canada, cleaning out my grandmother’s old house, and he stumbled across a bunch of old romance comics in her attic that he brought down for me. Most of ‘em are old DC titles, a few Charleton and pair from smaller publishers, the majority dating back to between 1955-1958, with a few stragglers from the early 70’s. Some are uh, in better condition than others lmao, but regardless, some of these are actually the first Golden Age books I own, like literally within the last 6 months of GA, just barely predating Showcase #4. Secret Diary #30 (one of the coverless books, that one took some research to figure out what it was because it didn’t have copyright info on its first page) is actually the oldest book I own now, dating back to July 1955.
