7 weeks - Finally had a decent nights sleep

But, went to primary and am now taking gabapentin because of nightime cramping/restless leg. I still need to get up to ice because of IT band pain, but I am able to go right back to sleep. Going to try dry needling for the IT band issue. Also working with regular PT. It's a more of a burning pain which Tylenol doesn't seem to touch. Ice seems to help the most.

7 weeks and doing to much...but what is just enough?

71F was released from PT but got some extra days because of IT band. We have an old house and basement steps steep. Tried going down the right way a few days ago and it was too much. Spent a couple days swollen and a little more pain.
So I have a tendency to do to much. Friday PT told me take it easy on the IT band. Only do strength exercises every other day. So basically today I'm just doing my flexion exercises, hip stretches and I will ride the recumbent for 20 to 30 minutes. Did the same yesterday.
Along with all this not sleeping well still, also insane restless legs at night. Has anyone seen a correlation between too much work/exercise and restless legs? No more pain meds per surgeon so trying various things to figure out the sleep restless legs issue. The middle of the night burning sensation from the IT band I resolve with ice, usually just once thank goodness.

6 week post op yesterday

71 F Discharged from PT but got 2 extra weeks to deal with IT band pain. Doc says see you in a year. Everything good. Only pain now is truthfully the IT band which is keeping me up at night. No renewal of oxy, one renewal of Meloxicam. Still taking Tylenol. Doc said full leg spasms at night probably from overuse. So...if have PT, don't go to gym. Listen more closely to body.
Scheduling personal trainer for end of June hopefully. Same for reformer Pilates. So far at gym using recumbent bike and upper body machines.
Hopefully can get IT band resolved soon. Doc says this is very common.

Does anyone take a day off from at home exercises?

Doing my flexion extension today but did a hard PT Friday. 30 min on bike on Saturday, and at home PT. Today all I've done is flexion extension...I feel guilty but I'm tired today. Just puttered around the house. No long walk. I decided one day off won't set me back.

PT did deep tissue work on IT band

Close to 6 weeks and discharge from PT. Had a discussion yesterday about IT band and maybe connection to some nerve pain. I've been working on it at home. Yesterday he did some work on it which was painful but, no nerve pain last night. Going to ask for a couple more weeks of PT.

Close to 6 weeks and the nerve pain kicked in.

Woke up last night and oh my it burned. Had to ice for quite a while. Checked with doctor and they won't give me anything til see him on Tues for 6 week post op. Oxy didn't help at all. I had less pain 2 weeks ago. Such a roller coaster.

I was consistently elevating, now it bothers me a little, using a pillow lengthwise now more comfortable. Have my full ROM. Swelling is negligible at this point so assume it's ok?
Awful IT band pain. Either from bending knee the wrong way putting on a sock or just it's awful IT band pain time. For IT band, using a roller or lacrosse ball to massage. Should I do more than once a day?
Lastly, whole leg spasms at night, anyone had this, when does it stop. Wakes me up, then have to ice because then IT band pain kicks in.
Seeing surgeon next week for 6 week post op. Wonder if should ask for more PT specifically for IT band issue.

I'm right at 5 weeks. See surgeon for post op next week. My flexion is at 130 and 0 consistently. Now I do more exercises for strength. Prior to surgery did reformer pilates twice a week and saw a trainer once a week. Did the gym before knee got awful about 3 times a week in addition to that. Knee deteriorated fast though. Was not super consistent the last 6 months prior to surgery. I have been back to gym just to use the recumbent bike. But decided to get one for at home. When were you able to consistently and safely start back at the gym? I will of course ask the surgeon.

Got clearance from doc and pt do use heating pad, not on incision or knee itself. Having muscle spasms at night. Using magnesium, getting my electrolytes. Think just overdid. It helped so much. Did before exercises this morning. Evil heel slides not quite as evil. Heel slides with strap were not bad. Need to try this just before bed to see if helps.

Actually slept ok last night. I've been waking and needing to ice though. Pain is more of a burning feeling. But, I was dumb and tried to put a sock on normally. Bent my knee a way it didn't want to and it's taking forever to calm down. You have a good day and you push it, but you pay for it. Be mindful of how you move.

4 weeks plus a couple of days in. Had PT yesterday then rode recumbent bike at the gym for 25 min. Not a smart move. Legs were crampy all night and really did not sleep. Will do bare minumum of exercises today. I think we have one good day, then push too hard. Be careful, pace yourselves.

I didn't really stand too long over the weekend, but I did do a lot. Recumbent bike at the gym along with usual exercises. Had to sit without elevation more than usual. PT today was tough. Took an oxy for the first time in days. Now elevating and icing. Anyone else have this shin pain come and go.... hopefully go?
