I just learned about Sans-Souci: The Caribbean palace built by a formerly enslaved man to challenge European royalty. Fascinating read.

I just learned about Sans-Souci: The Caribbean palace built by a formerly enslaved man to challenge European royalty. Fascinating read.

I stumbled upon this article the other day and found it absolutely mind-blowing. We all know the story of Haiti and its independence, but I had no idea King Henri Christophe built such an imposing palace just to prove to the Europeans that free Black people could build and rule with the same greatness. The story behind how he defied the norms of the time is super interesting, definitely worth a read.

Understanding the new complexities of the Ebola crisis in the DRC. An essential read on the ground realities.

I was looking for updates on health crises in Central Africa and found this deep dive into the situation in the DRC. It goes beyond the standard news ticker to show exactly what communities and health workers are navigating right now. Sharing it here because it sheds light on a critical situation that deserves much more mainstream attention and nuanced understanding.

The ethics of isolation: What’s your take on the Sentinelese and North Sentinel Island?

Hey everyone, I just finished reading this really interesting breakdown of North Sentinel Island and the history of those who tried to contact the tribe. It got me thinking about the modern world's obsession with contacting isolated groups and the tragic outcomes it usually brings.

The article gives a really clean, respectful overview of the situation and the strict "eyes on, hands off" policy. I’m curious to know your perspective: do you think humanity will ever manage to fully leave them in peace, or will modern tech eventually breach their isolation?

Let me know what you think of the read!

Could you guys actually handle a life where nature is this unforgiving?

I often daydream about living somewhere remote and truly "off-grid," but reading about Oymyakon gave me a massive reality check. The way they’ve adapted to the lack of indoor plumbing and total isolation due to the frost is pure survival. I have so much respect for that kind of resilience, but I don’t know if I’d last a week. What do you think? Is this the ultimate off-grid challenge or just too much?

Just came across this article discussing Sam Altman’s perspective on the future of AI and humanity. It’s a pretty wild take that definitely makes you stop and think about where we’re headed. What do you guys make of this? Is it a realistic concern or just hyperbole?

What do you guys think?
