Withdrew K1 petition after bad lawyer advice — can we reverse it? Status was “Ready” on CEAC
Looking for advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.
My fiancé and I hit a rough patch a little while back and decided we just wanted to pause the K1 process — not end it. We consulted a lawyer who told us the only option was to send a withdrawal letter to USCIS. We were panicked and trusted him, so we did it.
We regret it more than I can say. We’ve since consulted a second lawyer who told us the first one was flat-out wrong — there were other ways to pause without withdrawing.
We’ve worked things out and want to move forward together. My case status on CEAC is still showing as “Ready.”
A few things I’d love to hear from this community:
1. Has anyone successfully reversed or rescinded a K1 withdrawal letter?
2. Does the “Ready” status on CEAC mean anything in our favor here?
3. If we have to refile, what’s the realistic timeline and what should we expect?
Any shared experiences or guidance would mean a lot. Thanks.
