I have been trying to make homemade mac and cheese instead of boxed versions, but mine never comes out the way I want.

Usually the sauce ends up either too thick, grainy, or just lacking that creamy restaurant style texture and flavor.

I am looking for the kind of mac and cheese thats super creamy, cheesy, and comforting without being overly complicated.

Does anyone here have a go to recipe or secret ingredient that made a big difference?
