Talk me out of buying a magnification optic.

I just took my first AR to the range and zeroed my red dot at 75 yards. I had a blast (pun intended) and am stoked to go back and start working on some drills and skills.
I’m a gear head and I love getting decked out. The prices I’m seeing should be enough to deter me but it’s not really working.
Also I’m definitely a noob. It was my first time shooting any AR.

is it frowned upon if i show up to the range with an ammo can of loose 556

i bought a bunch of ammo that came in a sturdy plastic bag and i feel like its weird to bring a bag of bullets to the range haha. so i took an old ammo can ive had and dumped them in.

what level of noob is this ?

i feel like theres a correlation between picky eaters and parents that regularly eat processed foods (i assume more so during pregnancy).

and my conspiracy mind is telling me that that is the plan, to get us to prefer the taste of processed slop.

Drills/Things to practice my first time at the range with my AR

whats up yall. I plan on taking my first AR to the range next week and 'figuring it out'. I have basic gun safety locked in, I've taken a handgun course, and i have nothing but respect for the weapon.

So i don't look like a complete dweeb (or godforbid hurt someone accidentally), what are some drills i should work on?
