Inspired by the Course in 1997: Meeting "Sumwun" (The Light Within)
Hello friends and family,
Back in 1997, my study of A Course in Miracles inspired me to draw a character named Sumwun—symbolizing the Sum of One Mind and representing the Holy Spirit within us. He was designed to be a children's nightlight, a physical reminder that darkness is an illusion and that the Holy Spirit's light is always shining within our minds.
With all the heavy illusions, political uncertainty, financial stress, anxiety, indeed fear of any kind circulating in the world today, the Holy Spirit gently nudged me to bring him out of my closet and share his message. I wanted to share his picture and his uncompromised ACIM message with you all today as a reminder for our collective healing.
Sumwun’s Message:
"Hello, holy child of God. When the sun goes down and the world grows quiet, you might look around your room and see shadows. The world teaches you to be afraid of the dark, and to believe that scary things can hurt you. But I am here to remind you of a beautiful truth: The darkness is not real. It is only a dream, and a dream cannot change the truth of what you are.
Look at the light I hold. This little lamp is just a reminder of a much brighter, brighter light that lives inside your own mind. That light is God’s Love for you, and it can never be turned off, dimmed, or taken away. You are not a helpless body trapped in a dark world. You are the light of the world. Close your eyes, join your mind with mine, and remember that you abide in perfect safety. The light inside you has already won, because only love is real."
I am holding this vision close to my heart. If anyone in the community feels called by the Holy Spirit to help bring this physical light to parents and children as a learning tool or a point of conversation or has ideas/guidance on how to develop it without entering the ego's world of stress, I would love to connect.
