Obituaries and being inappropriate

After playing for a while, I turned aging on for NPCs. Since I'm on long life span, it wasn't clear for a while if the setting was operating properly. Finally there was an obituary in the paper! Then two more! Now I see one every few game days. And someone dropped dead right in front of her when my Para visited the beach.

Am I a horrible person for feeling gleeful and looking forward to more obituaries?

Now I have a question. For those playing in this manner, with aging turned on for everyone, what strategies are you using as the population of the town steadily declines? I'm looking for ideas.

Men's suit jackets -- back vents

This is about suit jackets as cut for men, as the styling of back vents is usually quite specific, and what we see in the Paramaker now isn't correct. This doesn't apply to women's suit jackets, as the styling for those is much more varied.

In the Paramaker, the back of the suit jacket seems to have three vents down to the hem. This is not how men's suit jackets are made.

In one currently common style there will be a single center vent as an extension of the center back seam.

Or, there will be two side vents, also as extensions of seams (which seams are not fully drawn in the Paramaker version). And these seams are much further to the sides than shown in the original.

Elbows of suit jackets

I've been seeing the many concerns about some of the depictions of clothing, and agreeing. I thought I'd try breaking things down into small bits and get feedback so I can give feedback to the devs. I have some knowledge of 3D graphics and modeling, so I hope to give suggestions on implementation as well.

This first post is on the matter of suit jacket elbows. I'm sorry, but the compression wrinkles appearing over the back of the elbow is just incorrect. When the arm bends, the compression wrinkles will appear at front in the crease of the elbow. This problem appears on all the suit jackets I looked at. But it doesn't appear on other long sleeves.

I believe that this shouldn't require changes to any mesh/model, but only to the textures.

What do people think? Is it worth continuing this series of posts I'm considering?

Action queue praise

I would like to give a shout out and cheer for the action queue.

This feature has been working so well for me. Because it is working so smoothly, it took a while for me to realize what an improvement it is over what I'd experienced in The Sims. I've been mostly a Sims 3 player, so that is the experience I'll cite. There, if one needed to change future actions, you had to delete and recreate them. And there was the annoying tendency for actions to just drop out of queue (not including for Sims that had the absent-minded trait, where it made sense).

Here in Paralives, we get looong queues. I think I've stacked up a dozen actions, and not seen hint of a limit. I haven't seen the game drop actions without warning, except for the "go home from work" point, which is a known issue. We can rearrange actions, which makes me giddy!

There is the problem of action queues not reloading from a save, but that's a known issue which will get fixed.
