I’m attempting this mod to my Crate VC50 combo, and I’m having issues with it.

My clipper is wired correctly, but attaching it to pins 2/7, 2/6, 6/7 on V2 does nothing until I turn the gain up, at which a gnarly hum occurs that oscillates higher or lower as the gain is turned up.

Any help with where to properly fit this mod would be appreciated.
