Help with Cadillac Fleetwood details for a book
Hello car enthusiasts, I'm posting here with questions becouse no matter where I look I keep finding confused or contradictory informations and as a total car newbie I have absolutely no experience with cars much less models and brands.
I'm sorry in advance if this isn't the rigth sub (I would never dare disturb the car circlejerk) but I'm writing a book where the protagonist's car is a plot point and I didn't want any inconsistencies.
For more context, the story is set in England in the 1980's and the mc owns a Cadillac Fleetwood (he acquired it anywhere from 1978 to 1982 If that matters) I wanted to keep the story as realistic as possible and im getting close to the point where i have to put in the details but the more I search the more confused I get, so I would have some questions for the experts:
1.) Where Cadillac Fleetwoods available in England in that time frame?
I've come across various sources saying it was a luxury car and that it was only made in America and so on, it is also fine if some rich American tourist comes to London and gets his car stolen, that's one of the possible routes of aquiring the car for the Mc.
2.) Did they have radios? And if so, cassette or cd? This will be important because music plays a huge part in the story and I would need to complitely re write some scenes based around it if it had no radio system.
3.) How much did they cost? One of the 2 options for mc (then a poor, fresh out of school, young adult close to the wrong crowd) to get that kind of car was actually buying it with his first paychecks, I don't know how feasable that was back then, the other option is that he simply steals the keys and car and later gets legal ownership somehow.
4.) If a Cadillac Fleetwood is complitely out of prospect what other models could I look into? Again I'm a total newbie on the subject and have 0 idea of anything regarding british cars in the 80's.
5.) Is there something else I should know about this specific car? Kind of open ended question, but again I know next to nothing about cars.
Thank you for all your answers in advance, I care about making it as realistic as possible and not leaving in inconsistencies so any help is appreciated (and sorry for the bad English, it's not my first lenguage)
I included a few pics I've found of what I immagine the car to look like, but again feel free to correct me if I accidentally included cars made yesterday.
