Other agencies?

I wanted to see how other agencies are. Because mine is so toxic! We’re split up into call takers and dispatchers. Where you start as a call taker and work your way up. I’ve been here 2 years and because I’m just a call taker we’re treated like garbage. The more senior people get away with literally everything and can do whatever they want. Not to mention my agency we answer emergency, non emergency, alarm, animal services, and all the local PD in the county (like 4 agencies). It’s so exhausting having to be on the phones.

I’m pretty burnt out

I’ve been dispatching for 2 years and man I want another job so badly. I dread coming in every shift and long story short the stress and health issues I get from this job aren’t worth it to me. I get anxiety, nightmares, brain fog, and had a fever and back pain last week. They work you to death. I did 66 hours last week and they were still calling me to come in on my day off. Thankfully this week is slower. What doesn’t help is vacation is hard to come by and if you’re out of sick hours (which I am) you get written up if you call out for being sick actually (I’ve had to work while having a fever). I don’t know why but I feel like 80% of the people I speak to can’t answer basic questions which makes a simple call so much more difficult. To wrap everything up there’s really no support system here. The culture is “deal with it.” Any tips?

Help

I don’t really know where to start. I lost 100 pounds a few years ago when I was single and was motivated to be healthy. Today I’m exactly where I was and I just can’t lose the weight. I know it’s from my overeating problem. I’ve been catching myself eating anything I can in the pantry to feel full for that “good” feeling. I find myself ordering way to much food and also always going to eat out to reward myself. I don’t know what to do anymore. Any advice?
