Mount Vesuvius, Italy
I would’ve completely missed it without flymap app. Unreal.

I love looking out of airplane windows, but most of the time I had no idea what I was actually flying over.
This is a web preview but If you are interested - I also have an app where you can download a map with all the cool stuff along your route.
PS: What I like about this project: no AI features at the moment
I was flying over Switzerland, Italy, Albania. Can I count it as my traveling? :)
Flying over the Alps soon and I’m a bit nervous about turbulence. Is it usually rough when crossing mountain areas like that, or doesn't matter?
Would be nice to hear from people who’ve done similar flights

Hi all, I've just finished a new dashboard screen UI for Flymap. During the flight - you can track your speed, altitude, heading, and even outside temperature (approximation).
How do you find it is UI clear? What else you'd you like to see during the flight?

I’m flying from London to Vancouver soon, and I looks like I'm gonna fly over Iceland & Greenland. I’ve never flown that far north before, so I’m super excited to see glaciers, icebergs, and Arctic landscapes 😄
I’ve been working on a side app called Flymap, originally just offline maps for flights.
But recently it evolved into something much more interesting — a geo-awareness engine for flights.
Before takeoff, you can preview your full route on an interactive map and download it. During the flight, the app shows what you’re currently flying over in real time: countries, seas, mountain ranges, islands, straits, regions, and more — all fully offline.
It also includes offline wiki articles for places along your route, so flights become a bit more exploratory instead of just staring at clouds for 3 hours. Perfect for geography lovers like me.
My main problem for this project is testing. It’s really hard to simulate real in-flight GPS conditions while being on the ground.
If you like window seats, geography and flying soon, please give it a try. Any feedback is welcome!
