Double Feed (Bore vs Timing)

Double Feed (Bore vs Timing)

Project is coming along. Still have front block and valve and some other stuff to add but wanted to get it running as is to make sure when I start chasing problems they didn't already exist. I have a .678 insert currently, the paint is not tight, maybe every 4th or 5th ball will stick and the rest roll through slow with resistance. I was afraid to underbore too much but maybe that's what it needs. Still trying to get used to this small paint (I'm old)

I am getting some double feeds so should I go smaller insert still or should I be looking somewhere else timing related? Timing and action seem fine but I'm a moron from time to time so I'm sure there can still be some tweaks to be done.

Are y'all getting a super tight bore fit?

Edit: I just shot it again and noticed that if I held the trigger open it would double Feed every shot. So would that be the detent? Should I time my ram to open the bolt less?

Double edit: Problem solved. It helps to read instructions before just bolting random parts on.

Cutting Barrel/Re-Anodizing

Buddy has a nice lathe and I was gonna play around with cutting some old autococker barrels to fit Freak inserts. Is there going to be any issues leaving the inside cuts clean/raw or will I HAVE to re-anodize them? I really don't wanna do it bad enough to do all that lol.

Awesome Find (now a problem)

Soooo...recently got back into the game with my son. The new guns are awesome but with my son being younger we play a lot of rec ball. So it made me want to start looking for a new Autococker to tinker with. I looked around and finally grabbed the Red 2k off the ole ebays, with the intention of rebuilding myself etc. I have a box of goodies to add, new valve, bolt, reg, inception front goodies. Basically just throwing the sink at it.

I didn't have a chance to start because we moved. During the move, I found my OG box of PB stuff, I swore up and down I thought I sold the stuff. All the memories back. The silver/black is my OG. The damn thing still holds air, zero leaks and shoots great after 20+ years.

So the new issue....which one do I throw the sink at now?

With the added nostalgia I almost wanna sent it to cockertop so it's perfect.

In short, Paintball was my life during the late 90's and early 2000's. Custom Autocockers, tourney play and all the other possible ways to dump money into the wind. So I have some knowledge but am not too prideful to understand the sport and tech has left me behind a LONG time ago.

Fast forward to today, I have been out for over 20 years and now my son is interested in getting into the sport. So Im re-learning some of the tech and researching what the best starting point would be for both of us. I would like us to get the same gun so that I can teach and we can learn together and share parts, if one gun is down he can run mine without issue, etc.

My past experience has gotten in the way somewhat because I forget I'm old now and not necessarily doing this for myself this go around. (sorta lol) So after I filtered through all my delusional thoughts of buying race guns and the like, I have settled on two options.

Empire Axe 2.0 and the PE ETHA3 M (Mechanical)

(Im still open to other options in the price range, wasnt all that impressed with the CZR+, I have no logical reason, I just dont like it ::shrug::)

I know the two guns are very different between electric and mechanical but after some thought I am leaning toward the ETHA3. Just for simplicity for my son, cheaper paint, less desire for me to go be an ass and hurt myself lol.

Just wanted some advise on the new stuff and make sure Im not making a mistake going with the Mechanical in my situation and not just going with the Axe.

Im assuming both these markers will be similarly consistent and accurate (using same barrel) If Im wrong, please let me know.
