Well...This is a First for Me...

Picked up an order from Taco Bell, and brought it to a hotel, but the room number was nonexistent. So I called the customer, and asked if this is the correct room, he sounded puzzled. But then, he apologized, saying it was the wrong hotel. I asked where, he said, "Too far gone from the address provided. Make the drop-off and enjoy it." So...I got a free dinner out of it.

Let this be a lesson in double-checking your address first on the Doordash app or whichever restaurant app uses delivery before you place an order.

This Finally Happened...

After 1 1/2 years of being in and out of pro-shopper due to store inventory issues, I have reached perfect shopping status! I kid you not.

Overnight Alcohol Orders in Texas

I don't know how Alcohol sales work in other states--and I'm never a drinker. But here in Texas, the state law prohibits anyone from ordering alcoholic beverages outside of regulated hours. In this case, 7AM to 12 Midnight weekdays, 7AM to 1AM Saturdays, and 10AM to 12 Midnight on Sundays. With that said, here's my story:

I didn't have a good start on Doordash late last night/earlier this morning. Had to turn down the first 2 orders at CVS because they all ordered alcoholic beverages, and per state law in Texas, they can't be sold overnight. Even if it was possible to obtain said item(s), the cashier system cannot scan them, and store personnel can't override the parameters. 10 minutes later, another order came in for the same CVS, and guess what? It also involved alcohol, to go with the Life Savers Gummies and an orange Gatorade; I'm guessing she's making a special concoction with these products(?). I told the customer that I could get those 2 items, but the wine, I'll have no choice but to refund it. Customer 3 wanted to argue with me, saying, "No! I want my wine now!" "THAT DOES IT!!!" I screamed. That was when I unassigned myself from this order, switched to my app to settings, turned off the Alcohol Order mode before resuming, and waited until after sunrise to turn it back on. That episode really affected my completion rate, but I'm bouncing back from it.

I didn't think I would have to shut off the alcohol orders mode. Most of the past year, I managed to get by fine, aside from the few far in between overnight alcohol orders that I turned away. Any other orders that involved alcohol were certain cough syrups. Those could be purchased any time of day, providing a valid ID check.

BTW, while I've been getting normal shopping orders from CVS, the staff told me more and more people want beer and wine the same night. One customer said to them, "Well, where I come from, we buy our liquor 24/7!" In that case, go back to where you came from. Otherwise, RESPECT TEXAS STATE LAWS!! Someone needs to inform DoorDash personnel that they should deactivate alcohol sales in Texas-state establishments outside regulated hours. Heck, one overnight CVS manager threatened to shut down DoorDash each night if it gets people to stop ordering alcohol beverages overnight.

What the heck happened recently that these people want alcohol overnight? Are they still trying to drown their sorrows of the Patriots' loss to the Seahawks? The halftime shows? What? They can complain about the state laws all they want, but the overnight WHINE will not bring them WINE.
