Why does my dash keep randomly ending?

When I’m dashing every 2 to 3 dashes I make my dash will randomly end and I’ll need to restart. Why does this keep happening?

What feature did you think was overrated until you actually started using a dash cam?

I'm shopping for my first dash cam and I've gone down a bit of a rabbit hole. Every review seems to focus on different things—4K recording, parking mode, GPS, night footage, rear cameras, app support, etc.

I've been comparing a few options and VUEROID happened to be one of the brands that came up during my research, but I'm more interested in figuring out which features people actually end up using.

For those who've had a dash cam for a while, what feature turned out to be much more useful than you expected, and which one mattered less than the reviews made it seem?

For those of you located in the United States, how much and how frequently do you typically get tipped?

I've seen people state online before that they don't even accept an order if it doesn't come with a tip. This leads me to wonder how common it actually is for people to tip their dashers in the US. I'm in Australia and of the 887 deliveries I've completed, I've only ever been tipped for 5 of them. Two of the tips were 5 AUD (3.46 USD) and three of them were 2 AUD (1.39 USD). (I've never even seen an order with a preadded tip).

This does make sense given that we don't have a tipping culture (people usially only tip if service was beyond exceptional, like 20 stars out of 10 so to speak, and even then, they'll usually only tip a couple of dollars. It won't even go directly to the waiter either; it'll go in a jar up the front that from what I'm given yo understand is divided between the waiters at the end of the night. Growing up, I always viewed it as tipping the restaurant for good service, not the actual waiter. And, in the case of waiters this is fine as national minimum wage is 26.44 AUD per hour (18.33 USD per hour).

However, as Dashers aren't paid minimum wage, this really sucks for us. There is an argument to be made that the lack of tipping motivates workers to organise and this argument seems to be supported by the fact that as of 1 July Doordash is now required to pay us 32 AUD (22.18 USD) for every active hour (so, for all the time we spend getting to and from restaurents, waiting in restaurents, and so on) and the fact that this major win was achieved by the Transport Workers Union which represents dashers, uber drivers, and so on, along with other transport workers like pilots and truckies nationally.

So, how much do you guys over in the US actually get tipped and how frequently do you get tipped.

Verify your identity to continue dashing

Is anyone constantly getting the popup to verify their identity via Persona? I get it every few hours almost every day?!?! It was normal a few months ago when I was getting it every 2-3 weeks. How do I fix this? I asked customer support various times and they just told me to do the same old app restart or restart my phone, log out/in of the app, etc.

Acceptance Rate

This is probably the 100th post in here, but AHT don’t wanna hear it!

I’m recently trying this cherry picking which so far has been pretty good, especially considering i live right in a zone and it’s way too hot to be driving for nothing. But my question comes in to how low can my AR go before theres an issue? Currently at 48%, 100 in everything else, but i’ve been getting nervous just watchign it drop and drop.

Just Way Too Hot Today to Dash!

Cherry Hill NJ Zone

At one point today, the outside temperature thermometer on my dash read 109°F!
I went home to cool off for awhile. 104°F when I pulled into the driveway.
I might go back out later after it cools down.

Ratings question?

I am a driver. Is there any way to remove 1 star ratings? I've done 607 deliveries and I have 3 that have been on my thing for years, literally. I know not everyone leaves a review but if these have been done so long ago it should've dropped off by now. Also do we only ever see 100 ratings on our account? TIA for any info!! I've read the rules for what I can post but it keeps saying post type not allowed??

Reactivated after 3 years

So the past 3 years I've tried reactivating my account but never had any success. Was deactivated bc my completion rate was at 87% and was not aware that it changed from 80% to 90%.

Tried appealing via typical process numerous times and was denied. Called and tried to get a review through a representative and was given the runaround.

Yesterday I went on Chat GPT asked them to draft a email to ask for arbitration and sent to informal.resolution@doordash.com. Tbh i didn't expect for my account to get reactivated but just now I received email and low and behold it was reactivated.

Anyways im gonna doordash and after 3 years im gonna see how my market is like

App won’t let me complete order after I handed it to the customer

I completed a delivery where the person originally put they wanted it left at their garage door. They were outside and when I arrived and said to just hand it to them so I did. Thing is, the only option the app gave me was to continue (which included taking a picture. I did that and it just said the picture was wrong and wouldn’t let me complete the order.

I contacted chat support and they told me to call phone support. I did and the AI service couldn’t manually complete the order so now I’ve been on hold waiting for a real person for 48 minutes!

I drove back to the area I accepted the order as it’s a hotspot. I’m not driving back to the drop off cause I’m not gonna intrude on the guy because this app’s fucking up.

I can’t complete or cancel the order and the only thing the app will allow now is to get directions to the drop off location.

I messaged the guy for a pic of the order so I have evidence but they haven’t responded. I’m at a loss here and am about to just drive back home, and wait on hold there rather than sit in my car all day.

Has anyone experienced something similar and/or have any advice on this?

Thanks in advance, and it’s greatly appreciated from a new Dasher.

Update!

After over an hour on hold, I finally talked to a rep who manually completed the order. I’m already back home now tho so that’s an hour of my time wasted. I asked how to prevent it in the future and they basically just said call them if it happens again.

Glad it’s resolved but extremely dissatisfied with the customer service.

So is this normal?

So this is the first time I've unassigned an order and, you just get a contract violation? Idk why I thought we could unassign if we had to and all that would happen is we would lose points for completion rate.

scanning items you didn’t shop for??

TLDR

is it normal to have to scan every individual item at pick up and drop off if you have shop orders turned off? i thought retail pick up was just the store already put it together and you scan the receipt and load it up. has something changed or have i just been taking retail pick ups for months and coincidentally haven’t had to scan anything yet?

for ppl who want the TL part

to reiterate, i have shop and deliver turned off, and for every retail pickup i’ve done since opting out of shop and deliver, i haven’t had to scan any barcodes.

i got a double pick up from petsmart for the same customer. the store did the shopping and loaded it all into one cart, but for some reason the app wanted me to scan all 15 items in order to pick it up. however, not a single item will “match” with its barcode, it keeps saying this item is not on your order. so i tried typing in the last 4 of the barcode and kept getting “item does not exist” or something like that

i call support, they mark both orders as picked up from their end, i load it up and head out. get to the house and have a smooth delivery, and i think cool now i can just take the picture and be done with this order. WRONGGGG LMAO it wanted me to scan every barcode again. and i bet you can guess, none of them worked

so i took a pic of the delivery and called support as i left. i got the AI to mark the first order as complete but i had to get a live agent to do the 2nd one. it all took less than an hour in total, and the money was super worth it. but im gonna be thinking twice about retail pickups now 😂 is this normal?

UPDATE: Sorry about your safety, enjoy your future deactivation! 🙃

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dasher/s/vwaarKWk3z

All this, over $8 of tea.

Not a huge update but some people have been asking. It took 3 calls from 3 different people before I finally got someone who knew how to help. The first person I called hung up (yes that did happen) the second didn’t listen to what I said and after repeating the story 3 times and then saying “it’s cutting out” or “well just return the items” after explaining I couldn’t. I hung up and I finally FINALLY connected to an awesome woman who knew how to TRULY help. I drove to the location and “returned” the items using the digital receipt. She told me to dispose of the items. Guys it worked! Truly, thankful to that lady who knew how to deal with DoorDash bullshit AI and customer services people who don’t care. Thank you to the commenters on the last post that helped me figure this out.
Guys choose kindness. Even if you are frustrated, express it in a better way.
