Stranded due to outage

I’m completely broke and thought I’d use my last quarter tank of gas to Dash and get it back up to full. Well I dashed til I needed to fill up. Got to the gas station on fumes practically and boom; no earnings. Been trying to get ahold of support for over an hour. Fuck this app and ESPECIALLY their customer support. As soon as this is resolved I’m dropping it and donating plasma instead. This is ridiculous.

Moving into my Kia soul next week

After a year of struggling to make my bills, I’m finally out of money. Told my landlord I can’t pay the last month and I’ll be out by mid September.

I’ve sold and donated everything I own that either isn’t essential or won’t fit in my car. This has been an extremely difficult task but at the end of the day, it’s all just stuff. Stuff I can replace when I’m back on my feet.

I’ve got a decent sized pile of debt that I plan on tackling over the next 2 years and I really think cutting rent out of the equation is the key to getting on top of this.

I’ll be moving just north of Atlanta and working in the city. I guess the point of this post is to ask for advice in general but also if anyone has specific Atlanta/GA area advice it’d be greatly appreciated.

I’ve killed 12 cockroaches since I sat down on the toilet.

Title says it all. Thought I had them taken care of but this past week they’ve come back in full force. I feel so defeated and disgusting.

Disclaimer: I tried my best to research random events, but some of my assumptions could be wrong. Please lmk in comments and I'll update my math.

Random event spawns operate on a system where they spawn every 1 or 2 hours (randomly chosen), so the average spawn rate of a random is 1.5 hours. This timer runs outside of playtime, so technically you can log in every hour to try and force a spawn.

There are 25 random events (there are technically more, but those are event specific, like forestry), but for the ones we care about, there are 25.

In Leagues 6, there are 10 random events that need to just be "completed" (this includes obtaining a mystery box, which simply requires completing quiz master and choosing mystery box). There is a task that requires receiving a kebab (this is extremely common, so won't be considered in this calculation). There are also 4 random events that require equipping a piece of a random event outfit. These get a little trickier, as some of them guarantee a set piece while others (like the mime random event) can reward emotes as well.

  • Mime Random Event
  • Grave Digger Random Event
  • Beekeeper Random Even
  • Drill Demon Random Event

Drill demon can be treated as simply completing a random event because it's guaranteed. Here's the math.

9 random events that need to be completed. Each random has a 1/25 chance of being rolled at an average playtime of 1.5 hours each. We can calculate this using a "coupon collector" style approach.

We can use binomial coefficient to calculate the probability of completing guaranteed random events after N random events.

Completion probability Required event rolls Avg. time at 1.5 hr/event
90% 115 rolls 172.5 hours
99% 172 rolls 258 hours
99.9% 228 rolls 342 hours

we need to account for non-guaranteed outfit piece randoms. The failure probability can be calculated as 1-(1/2)^k until k=# of event completions for all emotes to be obtained. In case of beekeeper, it always remains 50% probability. Accounting for this, we reach a final table of

Completion probability Required event rolls Avg. time at 1.5 hr/event
90% 159 rolls 238.5 hours
99% 251 rolls 376.5 hours
99.9% 351 rolls 526.5 hours

Conclusions

Now for conclusions and injecting some of my own opinions.

Viallinen (world's first) and b0aty were the first couple players to reach max points. While I don't know exactly their play time, this feat took ~16 days, and I'm gonna assume they are playing fairly actively 20 hours per day. That is 320 hours.

For 320 hours of playtime, if you are force spawning all random events, there is a 97.5% chance you complete all of them (that is, only 1/40 accounts should fail if paying maximal attention to random events). I understand it is not always possible to force spawn randoms depending on current content, but also can be offset pretty well by sleeping directly after a random event/logging back on right before random event.

Time for my opinions

  • This is much more of a skill issue than it's shaping up to be. Clearly top players did not factor this heavily enough into their maxing path
  • Mod Husky is a true goat and should be respected for his opinions
  • Let the MimeGate slander begin
