So, my wife (working as a nurse) for the first time in 2 years is going to Bangalore via Mumbai (Lay-over of 8 hours in Mumbai) from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

My question is that since she has a lay over of 8 hours in Mumbai and I happen to be in Mumbai next week due to work, so can she come out of the Airport and we hangout for some hours and I drop her back at least 3 hours before her Bangalore flight?

If yes, what are the documents she has to carry?

If no, that's sad.
