Turns out my mom washes and reuses paper towels
She was helping me clean today and she watched me take clothes out of the wash. A paper towel was in with it on accident, and when I went to throw it away she asked to have it because it was barely used. She put it in a Ziploc bag and took it home. She said she washes them and lets them air dry.
Do I get her a clothesline for the living room? And yes, I did show her the scene and asked her to at least keep duck grease out of the home.
