Local Molding Plane Quality?
I’m thinking of picking up some molding planes in my area for about $10 each in similar conditions as pictured. Should I be wary of those with similar cracks?

Would hanging a Stanley number 50 combination plane by the rails in this vertical manner or even in the horizontal position damage it over time?

Edit: thanks for the help everyone
I want to make this later type No. 5 into a fore plane but the rear threading in the body for the tote screw is dead. Any recommendations on fixing this? Epoxy? Rethreading or tapping a screw?
I recently got this no. 50 in good shape but I can’t get this spur out. I tried giving it a good soak in 3 in 1 oil and Houdini spray but it won’t budge.
Any other penetrating sprays or recommendations? I’m considering trying the heating method but unsure whether I’ll damage the body.
