For everyone having trouble switching drive modes (EV/Eco/Sport)

I felt this needed a new thread since I know my dealerships is now on month 2 of trying to get a response from Kawasaki. This issue is defined as:

  • Inability to switch from default Sport to EV or Eco when:
    • Bike is stationary (not moving)
    • Bike is turned on, ignition off (not started)

While waiting for diagnosis, my motorcycle was on an open lot in the sun and rain of South Carolina. I finally got tired of waiting and picked it up since Sport only mode is better than no motorcycle.

To my amazement, all modes worked and have continued to work for over 3 weeks now

The dealership assured me they didn't touch my motorcycle the entire 2 weeks. My only thought is the sun/rain expanded/reconnected whatever sensor/logic board is not reporting correctly and put the modes back in action.

So if you have the mode switching issues, can you reply if you regularly garage your motorcycle or leave it outside? If everyone who has this issue garages their motorcycle, then the current solution may be to leave it in the sun and rain.

I know it sounds nuts, but after months of no mode switching frustration, I love my Ninja 7 Hybrid again. It happily switches between Sport / Eco / EV every time, and all I did was leave it in the sun and rain for 2 weeks. If you don't want to subscribe to my expansion/connection theory, then just assume my motorcycle has seen what life is like OUTSIDE being regularly garaged and now appreciates its situation enough to always provide all drive modes.

Easily (and Quickly) Run Boundry Wire Under Sidewalk

If you're installing or have installed an automower using a boundry wire, and that wire runs over a sidewalk, it will likely get cut at some point. I thought running it under the sidewalk would take professional installation, but then I discovered this flexible drill bit. Two quick trenches later and the wire is safe under the sidewalk, with no danger of an edge cutting it.

For those who had the disabled mode change fix, can you find the part?

Seems to be a theory the throttle is preventing mode changes by telling the motorcycle it's always more than 0%, preventing a mode change. If I wiggle my throttle enough, I can actually switch modes, so I'm thinking that's my issue.

If you brought your bike to the dealer, or replaced the part, can you point to which one was the issue?

I'm guessing it was 21176 - SENSOR,PRESSURE but if anyone can confirm it would save me $250 checking lol

6 Year Anniversary for my Automower 315x

This poor mower has been run over by a car, attacked by ants repeatedly, and chased by neighborhood dogs constantly. After getting run over, I became an expert on repairs and it surprisingly only needed a new motor, body shell and rear lift sensor (less than $150 total). I send it in every other year for firmware updates (sadly the 315x is pre-OTA updates) but aside from new blades every season it demands very little of my attention. I've even created a real-time status page thanks to the great API Husqvarna provides: https://atomicinternet.homeip.net/mower/

Be careful with curbs and our long wheelbase

Took a drop my bike handled fine before, forgetting I had a passenger this time.

Is 56.4v our EV battery max?

I rarely get a full charge on my 48v traction battery, but this time I was in sport for almost an hour. Weird the graphic doesn't show as full, so wondering if anyone has seen higher? Seems like the right spot the battery management would keep it.

After 5 years, my 315x battery was finally getting sluggish, so I opted for this $38 "special" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2VBNCF3

The official 315x battery is $115+ but after 3 mowing cycles it seems just fine with my zip-tied replacement. I'm leaving the old battery right where it is in case I need to swap back to it, but the BMS seems fine with it. So far I've almost doubled my run time with it (2.5 hrs vs 1.5 hrs) but hoping as the BMS learns it's capacity it will mow longer.

For anyone else with an older 315x you might be able to keep it running for a bit cheaper.
