Something I noticed on this rewatch:

In “Fortunate Son,” Tony cheers on AJ when he recovers a fumble and then has that sad exchange with him where he pressures his son into going out for hotdogs with him.

Cut immediately to Tony in the Bing, wearing the same shirt now with a mustard stain on it. Carmela calls and asks him to come home for dinner.

At dinner, Carmela asks how everyone’s day was. Tony simply responds, “Busy.” Then they start talking about where AJ will go to college. No one talks about the football game that happened that day!

So what gives here? Clearly the writers thought of this because the costuming marks this all happening on the same day. But what happened? Tony went to his son’s game, out for hot dogs, dropped AJ at home, went to the Bing, and immediately gets called back home for dinner?

And why does Tony not mention the game to Carmela? Is it just yet another sign of how little he cares about AJ?
