[contamination] Mold in grain spawn bag using LC, what went wrong?
Hey everyone, I've been starting my mushroom growing journey and I wanted to start pretty boilerplate so I purchased a LC and sterilized grain spawn bags with a self healing port. I used a still air box from amazon and sprayed it down with 70% alcohol, then I sprayed the spawn bag and healing port. I washed my arms thoroughly and wore gloves and then sprayed my gloves with alcohol and let them dry. I flame sterilized the needle on the lc, put the needle into the sab carefully through the arm hole and wiped the syringe down with alcohol and injected it. I feel like I was thorough in my sanitization but a week later all I see is spots of green and no mycelium.
The only thing i can think of is that we had a crazy heatwave the last few days and ambient room temps were in the mid 90's. Is that enough of a factor to proliferate bacteria and mold over an lc? I used around 3ml for a 3 pound bag. Should I have used more? I want to try again but I'm just not sure what I did wrong and how to do better next time. Thanks!
