uOttawa Waitlist Movement and Application Advice
I was waitlisted the day decisions came out in February and have heard of no movement since. Has anyone heard of people getting off the waitlist (not in FSL streams)? I emailed admissions but uOttawa is historically opaque with wait list information, so I'm not holding my breath.
Some info about me: I was waitlisted for uOttawa B.Ed for J/I English. I had a 3.8 GPA (10.6 CGPA) on my top 20 courses, and a 3.5 GPA overall (9.6 CGPA). I have a Bachelor of Global and International Studies with a Specialization in Teaching English in Global Contexts, a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Master's in International Development and Globalization.
I worked as a daycare supply teacher for a year during my undergrad, I completed an 8 month student teaching practicum in LINC 1 and 4 programs, I helped with ESL instruction in an IELTS prep course, was a section leader in my high school marching band for four years teaching peers to play their instrument and march, was a trainer at my last job in a public-facing fundraising role, and am currently responsible for the development of training and onboarding material in my role in the public sector at a large federal government department. My two references were both teachers whose classrooms I taught in during my CTESL certification.
I thought I had a relatively competitive application and was a little disappointed to receive a Wait List offer. I know that the competition changes from year to year, but I would be grateful for any additional advice or input to help me strengthen my application for next year, should the waitlist not move. Next round of applications, I would also apply to P/J in addition to J/I English. Thank you for your help!
