the best progression system might be one where the protagonist can make permanent mistakes

i like systems where every choice isn’t reversible

choose the wrong technique and you have to live with it. specialize too early and another path becomes impossible. build your body around one type of power and later discover that another route would have been much better.

that makes progression feel like an actual journey instead of a skill tree where you can eventually collect everything.

it also makes early decisions matter again

if the protagonist can always respec into the optimal build later, a lot of the tension disappears.

anyone else meal prep with thrifted kitchen gear or am i just cheap

been running spreadsheets on my kitchen setup and realized like 80% of it came from goodwill or estate sales. line cook at a local spot so i know what holds up and what doesnt. picked up a le creuset dutch oven last month for twelve bucks, some old tramontina pans, couple sheet pans that arent warped to hell. thing is i see home cooks dropping hundreds on allclad and i dont get it. my thrifted stuff performs the same at a fraction of the cost. i meal prep sundays for the whole week, kid and me, and these pans take the abuse. only thing i wont buy used is knives, for obvious reasons. rest of it? who cares if the handle is ugly. curious if other people here actually cook hard on thrifted gear or if it just sits pretty in cabinets. also any brands youve found that are built like tanks, im always adding to the hunt list. my current white whale is a heavy roaster big enough for a turkey that isnt already wrecked.

framing oversized venue posters heavy cardstock vs thin gloss paper

Clearing out old storage tubes today and found a couple of 18x24 promo posters from back when venue box offices used to hand out print materials.

Some of them are printed on super thin paper that got creased just sitting in a tube, but one heavier matte cardstock print held up amazingly well. I remember picking up that thicker one at a box office counter alongside a banner order we placed on 1DayBanner years ago, and the print quality on heavy stock is just night and day compared to standard promotional flyers.

For anyone framing larger show posters, do you go for custom archival glass to prevent yellowing, or are basic off-the-shelf frames fine if they stay out of direct sunlight?
