Seniors, please guide me 🙏

I'm a second-year student looking to earn while studying. I'm willing to put in the time and effort, but I'm not sure where to start.

I'm already applying for internships, so I'm looking for other options like freelancing, tutoring, content creation, building products, or anything else that has worked for you

If you're earning while managing college, how did you get started? Any advice would be appreciated

What software project do you wish someone would build?

I'm looking for my next project, but I don't want to build another portfolio app that no one ends up using.

So, what's something you've always wished existed? It can be a website, app, browser extension, CLI tool, AI tool, or anything else.

What's the problem, and why do existing solutions fall short?

If I find an idea that resonates with enough people, I'll build it and share it with the community. I'm especially interested in solving real problems, even if they're niche.

Looking for Old/Unused Laptops or Electronics

Hey everyone,

This might be a long shot, but I'm trying to learn more about networking, homelabs, and related tech, and I'm looking for any old laptops or electronics that people no longer use.

If you have an old laptop lying around that you're planning to throw away, recycle, or just don't need anymore, it would be incredibly helpful. It doesn't need to be in perfect condition even if the display is broken or the battery is dead, I can probably still make use of it.

I'm also interested in non-working laptops, old phones, Raspberry Pis, networking gear, or pretty much any electronics that would otherwise be collecting dust.

I'm honestly pretty broke at the moment, so I can't really offer money for them. But if you have something you're not using and would be willing to donate, I'd be extremely grateful and it would help me learn and build projects.

Feel free to DM me if you have anything available.

Thanks!

Looking for a laptop in the ₹80,000–₹1,00,000 range

Hey, I'm a second year student.

Looking for a laptop in the ₹80,000–₹1,00,000 range for backend development, AI/ML, electronics, and general productivity.

My priorities are:

Good battery life (very important)

Strong CPU performance (Ryzen 7 / Core Ultra 7 / i7 or equivalent)

24GB+ RAM (or easily upgradeable to 24/32GB)

1TB SSD

Lightweight

Preferably a larger display (14–16")

Good keyboard and trackpad

Decent screen quality

Good speakers

Good build not the flimsy ones

My workload will mainly be:

Backend development

Running Docker containers

Linux development

Electronics/embedded work

Light AI/ML experimentation (small models, local inference, basic training)

Heavy multitasking

I won't be gaming, and I don't do much photo/video editing. A dedicated GPU is not required unless it makes sense within the budget.

I don't care about the preinstalled OS since I'll be using Linux anyway

What would you recommend.

Built an NEW FFCS Planner Looking for Honest Feedback

Hey everyone,

I've been working on an FFCS planner for quite a while and would love some honest feedback from fellow students.

The site is currently preloaded with data from the previous semester so you can try it immediately, but everything is fully customizable. You can enter your own subjects, faculties, and preferences to generate schedules that fit your needs.

Features

Generate and explore all valid timetable combinations

Prioritize preferred faculty members

Exclude faculty you don't want

Optimize for more half-days

Reduce gaps between classes

Prefer early finishes or late starts

Set custom scheduling preferences

Compare multiple timetable options side-by-side

Find schedules that best match your lifestyle

I'm also working on adding support for all VIT campuses and expanding the preloaded data.

A small note: the faculty data currently included is from last semester and is only there to help users get started quickly. You can completely add your own faculty and course data.

I'd really appreciate any feedback whether it's about usability, missing features, bugs, UI/UX, performance, or anything else. Even small suggestions would help make it more useful for everyone.

Thanks for checking it out! 🙌

What Niche shd i pick?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to start a YouTube channel soon and I'm still trying to figure out what niche to focus on. I'm open to both Shorts and long-form content, and I'm leaning toward a faceless channel since that's what I'd be most comfortable with.

To be transparent, earning some money is definitely one of my motivations right now. I know YouTube takes time and there's no such thing as getting rich overnight, but having some income potential would help keep me motivated while I learn and improve.

For those of you who have experience with YouTube, what niches have worked well for you? Were there any you wish you'd started earlier, or any that you'd avoid?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, whether successful or not. Thanks!
