Small Survival Gaming YouTuber Looking for Feedback on Content & Viewer Retention

Hey everyone, I’m SquishyTophat — a small creator focused on survival playthroughs. Right now I’m working through Valheim, and I plan to branch into VR titles, horror games, and some FPS Twitch streaming once my VTuber model is ready.

I’m happy with my start, but my views aren’t very consistent and my subscriber count hasn’t been growing much. If anyone has a moment, I’d really appreciate feedback on my channel — things like my thumbnails, pacing, commentary, or overall presentation. I've been slowly changing my old windows paint thumbnails out with better and more clear Canva created ones. I’m trying to figure out what’s working, what needs improvement, and what changes might help me attract more viewers and keep them watching.

Any constructive advice is appreciated.

Sketch Comedy Channel

I've been working on producing sketch comedy over the past 5 years, and I've started releasing them over the past few weeks to very little results. I still have about 12 videos going up (a mix of shorts and regular videos) but would love any advice on how to boost engagement. This video is the latest to go out and would love feedback on it, but honestly feedback on the channel at large would be amazing as my instagram has popped off way more than my youtube channel.

I will review your YouTube channel

I’ve been working with YouTubers for 10 years. My specialty is ideation and packaging. Biggest YouTuber I worked with has 2.64 mil subscribers.

I’ve been not very active last 3 years, but now I’m doubling down on what I’m good at.

I will review your channels IN MY YOUTUBE VIDEO. So send if you’re okay with it. I might not be able to review everyone, depending on number of requests.

Please don’t send:
- gaming channels (I’m not a gamer and it’s whole other world)
-AI slop channels
-Shorts channels (I’m mostly good at long form and most shorts channels are slop anyways)

My secret plan in here is to find 3-5 interesting cases I’ll keep in touch with and help to grow.

I will DM people whose channels I review, because I don’t won’t to be accused of self promotion.

Edit: there are a lot of channels I like. I’ll try to go through all of them during Sunday

Has anyone dealt with copyright right strikes and getting them retracted for concert footage?

I post a lot of concert footage that I shoot myself.

Whenever I post footage I usually get the content ID claim but not told to delete them as it is usually said that there is no copyright strike and the claimant is owning the footage which is fine.

But just yesterday I got 3 strikes for all the videos from a particular concert that was posted back in April. They split the strikes up 1 for 3 video, and 2 for 5 videos each. All the same claimant. I emailed them seeking to retract as it terminated my channel.

Has anyone had any luck trying to contact claimants and getting strikes retracted? If I can only get one strike removed then I can get my channel back.

It's very strange because I saw that there are other YouTube channels that have the exact same songs from the same Florence and the Machine show I went to. So why were mine suddenly taken down?

I was wondering if it was because I had a recent YouTube partnership review that was denied for reused content. But I assumed it was for movie clips, not concert footage. As I know many channels are strictly concert footage channels and I see a lot with thousands of subscribers and views. I'm still a growing channel and recently just got to 880 subs which is even more disappointing if I can't get these strikes removed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! 🙏🏻

Let go from engineering job; Finally starting YouTube channel

As the title suggests, I lost my career engineering job yesterday to what I deem is bad management. I am currently at a crossroads as I had already talked with my wife this year about having a career shift to be more creative and follow my passion for astronomy. This might just be the push off the cliff I need.

While I continue looking for stable income I will be uploading videos related to astronomy to my channel from research papers / news I find relevant and interesting. I am learning blender to make my own animations. I will also do my own video editing and voice overs. I am trying to make this as high quality and accurate as possible.

If anyone would like to support me on this journey it would be really helpful to boost my morale and keep me going. Feel free to critique and suggest improvements!

Check out my latest audio story

It's a sci-fi adventure featuring a bounty hunter with serious attitude. If you regretted everything about the Book of Boba Fett, this story might show what they could have done with that great character instead. This isn't a fan fiction, but the Fett man is my favorite Star Wars character and his character definitely had an influence on this one: https://youtu.be/av74-l6__OU

Do you think a Minecraft Education + programming YouTube channel could actually work?

Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about starting a YouTube channel around Minecraft Education and programming.
The idea is basically to make little Minecraft stories where a robot learns things like coding, errors, servers, etc. I don’t want it to feel like a boring coding tutorial though, more like an actual Minecraft video where you slowly learn the programming stuff while watching.
I’ve already started making the first episode and honestly I’m not sure if this is a good idea or completely stupid 😂
Do you guys think there’s actually an audience for something like this?

Would appreciate honest opinions, even if you think the idea sucks lol.

Short stuck at 13 views. Normally i get 1.2k - 1.8k. Why?

hey guys, new small channel here (~30 subs)

normally my shorts get around 1.2k - 1.8k views, but the one i posted a couple days ago is just stuck at 13 views. studio says 1.1k less than usual. weird part is i still got +1 sub from it.

from what i can see it's like 70% shorts feed, 30% search. engagement tab says 5 engaged views, avg view duration 0:32 (short length 0:38), and 71% stayed to watch vs 28% swiped away.

anyone had a short just never take off like this?
