Things to take care of before moving to the UK 🇬🇧✈️ - Part 2
Following up on my previous post, where I covered the basics like flight tickets, accommodation, SIM card and forex money, here are a few more things I’d recommend sorting out before you fly:
- Optimise Your LinkedIn – Update your LinkedIn profile with your education, skills, and experience. You will need it once you start your job hunt.
- Prepare a UK-style CV – Don't bring the CV you prepared for your country; instead, have your UK-style CV ready for the hunt.
- Check part-time job portals – If you wish to apply for part-time jobs, then start browsing for the relevant portals even before you reach the UK. Check out your university’s portal as well. My university uses UniTemps, and it's mostly the same for many universities.
- Take some printed copies of your CV – I would suggest carrying at least 5 copies of a one-page CV if you wish to apply there. Printing costs in the UK can be quite high. So prepare your CV well beforehand.
- Spend time with your family – Most important of all. Amid the visa, packing, and travelling chaos, don't forget to spend time with your family. You are going to miss it the most.
These are small things, but sorting them out before you leave can save you a lot of stress once you arrive.
What else would you add to this list?
