I know this rant is screaming into the void…

STOP HALF-ASSING THEME TEAMS!

NHL HEAD COACHES - They should give each card for that team a +1 OVA and +1 AP boost.

NHL ARENA’S - Each line of the same team should get a +1 OVA and each player should add +2 mil to the salary cap.

CAPTAINS - When activated, along with the 10 AP boost, the captain XF ability should cost 0 and they should get Elite Born Leader XF for free too. The captain gets +2OVA and every player of the same team as the captain gets +1 OVA.

ALTERNATE CAPTAINS - When you apply an alternate captain collectible to a card, they get +1 OVA, their XF ability(s) is reduced by 1 and they are given specialist born leader for 0 cost. If the alternate captain is placed on an a captain card in your line up that is not your active captain, they get +2OVA instead and All-Star Born Leader for free.

TEAM CHANGE HEROES, ICONS and CAPTAINS - You should be able to change the team of a hero card, icon or captain to ANY team they played for/had their rights owned by an NHL team or was a captain of. So for example I can make the hero Linden a Canuck, Isles, Capital or Canadian. The Icon Messier I can make an Oiler, Ranger, Canuck or Shark (we owned his rights at one point). The Captain Pronger can make a Blue, Duck or Flyer.

GOALIES - This has nothing to do with theme teams, but for the love of god can they make their equipment match???

We’ve seen UFA rights traded in the past (usually only one or two players) but there’s been a massive uptick in them this year and I’m a HUGE fan of it. Yes I get that it potentially takes that player off the UFA, would happened if they re-signed with their current team anyway. I really like the player for player ones (like Gudas for Greer or Philp for Masters).

It also adds another wrinkle to the “this UFA will walk after the deadline and the current team gets nothing”. So going forward even if a team can’t move said player by the TDL, they might get a pick or another UFA they can get the jump on signing before UFA hits.

What are your thoughts on these types of moves?

I’ve talked about this a lot in the past…EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

In 23 we stay at 4OA and take Smith. Chicago moves up to get Bedard. Everyone was PISSED, ESPECIALLY since we were an L away from being 3OA instead of Chicago (Gregor being the whipping boy for that).

In 24 we stay at 1OA (winning the lotto 3 times) to get Celebrini. Had we gotten Bedard in 23, we do NOT finish 1OA and get Celebrini.

In 25 we have 1OA and drop to 2OA. We lose out on Schaefer but get a great consolation prize in Misa. Again everyone was PISSED.

In 26 we finished 9OA. Had we gotten Schaefer we do NOT finish 9OA and do not get 2OA (hell we likely make the playoffs). Even without Schaefer, we were a loss to WPG away from finishing 7OA and dropping to 8OA.

Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20.
