How to stand out?

Have been single now just over a year-and I dip in and out of dating apps, tend to find Hinge better to use. I’ve just had two dates in the last year and both times I have thought the dates have gone well with great conversations and humour only to get you are a nice guy but don’t feel a connection/spark etc. I had a date recently where in the buildup prior to the date the text exchanges were going well and we met up as agreed where I made general chat/conversation which I thought was flowing well and after the walk it’s cut short and plans are made to go home instead of the drink. I felt like I perhaps talked too much but I did also try and ask her questions and throw in occasional compliments, just wasn’t given much to work with at times. I know this does come across like a bit of woe is me type thing but I just wish there was a better way of meeting someone than through apps-I do have sport interests but this hasn’t helped either.
