Was mache ich falsch?

Was mache ich falsch?

Störungen bei Drei (Via Lidl) In Graz?

Servus liebe Leute.

My Scooter is Cursed and I am at my Witts End

So. Bought this scooter, a 2013 Honda sh125i with only 8000km on it for 2,000€. It's been running well for about 3 months until recently it's begun slipping under low throttle. I read up about the issue and it can be a bunch of different things, I figured why not I can replace a few parts and rule things out.

First things first the air filter was atrocious and needed a change, that went smoothly for 15€ Then the engine started acting up because apparently the old filter was so clogged it had run the bike super rich for 2-3 years and now that it was running lean again, it was presenting problems with the old fouled spark plug.

Ok so I had to go buy a spark plug wrench and a new spark plug, fine, 8€ for the wrench, 13€ for the spark plug.

It now idled much smoother but the scooter still kept bogging under low throttle and lurching. I then went to replace the variator weights and clean the clutch. I ordered a set of variator weights off Amazon for 14€, but then only one showed up. Despite the photo of 6 and the description of "set" the seller argued that the title said "weight" not "weights". If you don't know, these are without exception sold in sets of 6 because they all need to be replaced at the same time. It's akin to buying Shoe instead of shoes when the photo includes a pair. Anyways I went to return them, my wife accidentally threw it out in the cardboard envelope.

I then ordered a new set off a scooter supply store, that was 26€ plus shipping. Next I needed a way to hold the variator still so it doesn't rotate while I take the nut off to change the weights. Usually people use an impact wrench but I didn't have one and was already trying to save some money, so I got a variator holder tool which just had two prongs that stick into the variator fins to stop it from moving while I crank on it with the breaker bar... Another 11€. However mine apparently had pins that were too large for the variator on my scooter so it didn't sit fully flush, I pushed and tried anyways and wouldn't you know it the tool slipped and I gashed my pinky open on the transmission case. I eventually got the thing off and the weights changed but I then had to go off to the hospital to get 3 stitches and my left hand has been out of commission for 3 weeks.

The variator weights did need to be changed, the old ones were quite flattened. However this didn't solve my slipping issue, so on to the clutch. I didn't want to relive my experience with the slipping tool again so I went and bought an impact gun for 60€. I then spent 30 mins getting the scooter taken apart to take off the clutch bell and wouldn't you know it, the clutch nut is 2mm larger than the variator nut. So I have to go buy another socket. Now at this point I had work the next day so I had to close the scooter up and try again next weekend.

Next weekend comes along, I open things up easily enough now with the impact wrench, I clean it all out with brake cleaner, and I sand down the clutch pads. It was very dirty in there and the clutch pads were glasses over. I close it up and woohoo it runs great! For a week... Then it's slipping worse than before.

I called my local scooter shop and they said I almost certainly need a new clutch. So I go online and order one OEM clutch and bell set that explicitly states it is compatible with the Honda I own. 44€. Next weekend rolls around, I go to open it up again and there's a 39mm flat socket holding the clutch shoes into the spring. I tried for an hour to get it off with wrenches, with pliers, with a hammer and chisel - all the while stressing about the huge spring underneath that will shoot this hunk of Metal 6-10m in the air with great force if I am not constantly holding it down. No dice. I go on Amazon and find one 39mm impact socket and a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter that can be delivered the next day. I close up the scooter and wait until the next day. Open it up again now with the new socket and... The socket is the right size but too deep. Again I have work the next day so close it all up and try again next weekend.

This weekend rolls around and I decided fuck it I'll just take it to a mechanic, I have the replacement clutch, I just want this done with. I called every independent motorcycle and scooter mechanic and they either told me to kick rocks, or couldn't slot me in for 2 months. Eventually I gave up and called the Honda dealership an hour south of me. They said they could take the nut off for me and be done within two hours. Ok, I ride out there, there has been a misunderstanding, they thought I would bring the entire clutch assembly and they could take the nut off, I thought they meant bring the whole scooter. Also... The bus is 1:45 so I would really prefer to ride there. Ok whatever, again, I just want it done at this point so I drop off the scooter, they say they'll have it done tomorrow morning, and I take the long bus home.

I get a call today, expecting to be done, but apparently, my lovely OEM clutch doesn't fit. It fits on the bike, but the clearance on the clutch pads is too little and it engages the clutch at idle, which isn't safe and the dealership won't install it. So I have to take the bus back to go pick up my scooter, and now pay 75€ for the mechanics time. He tells me then they can order the Honda original clutch to replace it and it will be completely dependable, but that is 235€ plus another 75€ for labor. I declined that offer, and rode my shitty fucking scooter home. And now I'm here, defeated, having spent god knows what, 250€+ on this damn thing and it still slips and doesn't feel right.

Now I need to buy a more expensive aftermarket clutch which will be another 65-100€ depending, a specialty 39mm socket for 30€ and a clutch spring retaining tool for another 30€. I'm about ready to walk into traffic I'm so fed up with this damn thing. If I had full insurance I'd just let it get stolen and be done with it but I bought it used so the insurer refused to offer full theft insurance. I give up. Gonna get plastered and just hope this fixes itself somehow.
