Know Your Seller Fees Before You List

Every marketplace charges a fee, but the math behind it isn't always obvious...

On Swappa, sellers pay a flat 3% fee on the asking price, no listing fees, no relisting fees. Payment processing is separate: PayPal runs 3.49% plus $0.49 and includes buyer/seller protection, while Stripe is 2.9% plus $0.30 for select sellers. All in with PayPal, you're looking at around 6.49% total, well below what auction style platforms charge.

Buyers pay a 3% fee too, but it's already baked into the price they see at checkout, so there's never a surprise add on, and it helps cover the protections built into every transaction.

Buying on Swappa from outside the US: here's what you need to know!

Not a lot of people know you can buy on Swappa outside the US. You just need a US shipping address and a US-based payment source.

The easiest way to do that is through a freight forwarding service, which basically gives you a real US address and ships your package to you internationally. Swappa actually has two partners set up for this already. All the details are at swappa.com/international, and if you have questions about payments or permissions, the international buyer FAQ is worth a read. Never heard of freight forwarding before? This page breaks it down well.

Has anyone here bought through Swappa internationally? We're curious how the experience went, especially around shipping times and costs.

Blog: Used MacBook Buyer's Guide: Which Air or Pro (M1–M5) Is Actually Worth It in 2026?

The used MacBook market is full of solid deals right now, but picking the right model matters more than you'd think, especially since RAM can't be upgraded after purchase.

To summarize, the M2 MacBook Air is the sweet spot for most buyers. M1 if you're on a budget. Only go Pro if you need sustained heavy performance. Skip M5 for now since used prices aren't meaningful different yet.

Used vs New Laptops

https://swappa.com/blog/why-you-should-buy-a-used-laptop-instead-of-new-at-retail-price/

So, personally, I'm in the market for a new laptop. I have a M1 Macbook Air and want to upgrade. While the new M5 series look really neat, are they neccesary for me? I don't do any heavy processing besides a lot of open Chrome tabs, so a M5 series might not be neccesary. A M4 seems more appropriate, and the used market has a lot in stock, so I can more than likely find "gently" used or refurbished model. So with our current market trends, is used the smarter choice here? Is anyone else in the market for a new laptop?
