2 new plants, planted in same soil at the same time this year. One thriving, one struggling. Advice appreciated!

Hello, I am in zone 6b, I planted these low bushes in April of this year. In a soil mix of 40% peat moss, 40% existing soil, 20% coco bark mulch fines.

I added sulfur to the existing soil that I mixed in, in the ratio recommended on sulfur bag. Once I mixed in sulfur I added the other two components.

One bush is pumping vegetative growth, while the other is attempting to fruit. The one with few leaves had hundreds of blooms post planting, and lots of fruit set- but the growth was extremely stalled and the berries never properly ripened. Should I cut the berries off the struggling bush?

Looking for advice on seed grown pawpaw!

Hello!

I purchased a ~2 year old seed grown pawpaw from a local nursery around 30 days ago. I purchased a seed grown opposed to the grafted select cultivars so that I could practice growing with less pressure.

Within days of bringing home this plant, the leaves dropped and became thin feeling. I had the plant under my shade cloth with lots of other plants and cacti. They all received rain 2-3 days in a row. When I noticed the pawpaw appeared this way, I moved the plant into my sunroom, so that it would stay warmer and not be rained on anymore- as it appeared overwatered.

A couple weeks go by and the plant appearance hadn’t changed, the nursery soil mix was still soaking wet. I decided to check the plant for root rot, I could not tell for sure- there was little root structure besides taproot. the taproot although dark did not feel squishy or rotten, and had no apparent foul smell. However it did not appear any roots were actively growing.

I repotted the plant in a well draining potting mix with added mycorrhizae to attempt to help root growth- however 10-14 days since repotting there are no signs of improvement.

Any advice would be appreciated.
