Still rocking the Hero 11

I’ve been recording my snorkeling sessions with the GoPro Hero 11 for a couple of years now and it has served my purposes well enough.

While I’m tempted to buy the new Mission 1 Pro, to get 8K 60fps as compared to the 4K 60fps format I use now, I still feel the Hero 11 does a really good job and I have a hard time justifying the purchase to myself.

Anyone else using the Mission 1 Pro for snorkeling here? What are your thoughts if you upgraded from a Hero 11 / 12 / 13?

I also wonder how much more taxing the 8K videos are to edit compared to 4K as I mainly edit with Resolve on a MacBook.

Went snorkeling in Gili Asahan

Finally had some time to finish this video of the Gili Asahan reef after months of sitting with the footage.

Conditions were cloudy so it’s not the best underwater footage but still made for good memories overall. All shot using a GoPro Hero 11.

I just came back from exploring Lombok and Sumbawa a few weeks ago and just wanted to share this video of swimming with whale sharks, which was our main mission for this trip.

It was such an amazing experience! Some people on our boat had been waiting 5 years or more to see whale sharks after many attempts in other countries. We were so lucky that we had a session with only around a dozen people in the water, swimming with 3 huge whale sharks.

The only tip I would give for anyone wanting to go for this trip is to go on weekdays and avoid the weekends. We heard from friends it gets crowded over the weekend, and it makes the experience less magical, more stressful.
