Had a package marked as delivered, but wasn’t there when I went to get it from my PO Box.

Reached out to the post office my PO Box resides, and they told me it was scanned into the system and into the right facility, but on delivery their internal system said “Symbology Mismatch”. I asked what that meant and I couldn’t get a straight answer. Had a few workers even tell me they didn’t know what it meant. Some more details:

-They couldn’t trace the geo of the delivery scan (but the previous scan did register at the actual post office location)
-They couldn’t see which box it was scanned into

Package still hasn’t been found after a month. If I had to guess, maybe it was scanned into an incorrect box and someone just kept my package?

Anyone else ran into this specific issue before? Thanks in advance.

Had a package returned to sender (me), and the post office says it was likely misdelivered to another PO Box.

They confirmed it was scanned into the branch that morning, but can’t see which PO Box it went into. I showed up within ~2 hours, they checked parcel lockers and boxes, and it was already gone.

I’ve been checking back for the past 3 weeks — still nothing.

Something feels off. What are the odds the person checked their box right away and grabbed it that fast? Bad luck, or possible theft?
