Hi again! I've been thinking more about the idea I posted about before, and I wanted to get some thoughts on a slightly different direction.

Originally, I was thinking about organizing a Black sapphic singles weekend in BC. But the more I've thought about it, the more I've wondered whether there might also be interest in other kinds of gatherings.

As someone who tries to make friends as an adult, I know it isn't always easy. Sometimes you want to meet someone to date, but other times you just want to find your people, make genuine friendships, or connect with others who share your experiences.

I'm now exploring three possibilities:

A Black sapphic singles weekend
A friendship and community weekend
A networking and connection event for Black women

I'm curious whether having different kinds of events would make more sense, rather than focusing on dating alone.

I made a short survey to get a better idea of what people would actually be interested in. If you're comfortable sharing your thoughts, I'd really appreciate it!

I’ve decided to bite the bullet and try to create the space that I feel like is missing for Black sapphics here in Biritsh Columbia and beyond.

I’m looking at putting together a Black Sapphic Singles Retreat for Black adults 21+ who identify as sapphic/WLW and are attracted to women.

That includes Black lesbians, bisexual women, queer women, trans women, and non-binary people who identify as sapphic/WLW.

The retreat is specifically for Black sapphic people who are single and open to meeting other people for dating, romance, friendship, or connection. You don't have to be actively looking for a relationship, but you should be comfortable attending a singles-focused event where flirting and dating are part of the experience.

I’m thinking late August/early September 2027, with the hope that we can all find ourselves a little boo before cuffing season.

I know we’re all scattered across the province, country & world, so instead of trying to organize a one-night event that everyone has to travel to, I thought… why not make a whole weekend out of it?

Basically, think vacation + summer camp + dating weekend.

Camp games, getting-to-know-you games, speed dating, swimming, outdoor activities, good food, campfires, music, dancing, a little house party and some good old-fashioned debauchery.

There would be plenty of space to flirt, meet people, make friends, laugh, drink, dance and just enjoy being around other Black sapphic folks.

For accommodations, there would be a few options. You could choose who you want to share a cabin with, be placed into a randomized cabin, or choose a more private two-person cabin setup.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks would all be provided, so once you get there, the goal is basically to relax and have a good time.

I also want to make sure this isn't something that's only accessible to people with money. I'm looking into lower-income spots, financial assistance, sponsorships, grants and other ways to help people who need support attend.

I'm also looking for people who might be interested in helping with volunteering, sponsorships, grants, vendors, activities, entertainment, or just generally helping make this thing happen.

I already have a venue in mind

Right now, I’m just gauging interest. I want to see if there are actually enough people who would be excited about something like this before I start going completely overboard.
