Magic The Gathering Turtle Team-up...Only no teams.
I got MTG Turtle Team-Up to introduce MTG to my partner. She did not like the idea of playing against me, but preferred the option of a co-op system where we can work together. After our first round together, I saw the potential of it being a solo experience.
For those that don't know, Turtle Team Up has a boss deck and an event deck. The boss consists of three rounds. Round one is 1 boss, then 2, then finally 3. Each turn an event card is played on the bosses turn. It plays out pretty smoothly, the bosses can't block (stop you attacking) and are forced to attack each turn themselves.
I played a few rounds and liked it, however it was too easy. I went searching for other boss and event decks that somebody had made, but did not have any luck. I decided to make some of my own. I made changes to the [Boss Deck](https://www.reddit.com/r/custommagic/comments/1szuwue/turtle\_teamup\_custom\_bosses/) and later the [Event Deck](https://www.reddit.com/r/custommagic/comments/1tfgxk7/turtle\_teamup\_custom\_event\_cards/).
Both the boss and event cards have nasty modes now...As well as some other villains.
These changes opened up the game immensely. They also fixed some limitations, (e.g. cards targeting all Turtle Creatures, now target all Legendary Creatures), it also made it more challenging. It's more dynamic and things get out of hand fast. I feel completely at odds against the new bosses and event cards, it's great.
This project opened up this whole hobby for me. Now I have researched other solo physical gaming experiences. I am having an absolute blast with Vantage and I will eventually get some more solo board games to get lost in.
TL/DR: I made changes to a co-op mtg game mode to make it brutal and fun solo, opening up this new hobby of solo board gaming to me.
