Marlin 1894 Dark Series vs. S&W 1854 Stealth Hunter — which one would you choose?

Hey guys,

I’m looking to buy a lever-action in .44 Magnum and I’m currently hesitating between the Marlin 1894 Dark Series and the S&W 1854 Stealth Hunter.

I know these are probably not the most traditional-looking lever guns, but that’s actually what I like about them.

I really like the modern/futuristic aesthetic, which is why I’m specifically looking at these two models.

My goal is to buy something that I can keep for decades and potentially pass down to my children, so long-term reliability, durability and build quality are very important to me.

If you had to choose between these two, which one would you go for, and why?

I’d especially love to hear from people who have actually owned or shot both.

Thanks a lot for your help !

Marlin or Henry

Hello guys,

I’m looking to buy my first lever-action rifle in .44 Magnum, and I’m currently torn between a Marlin 1894 Dark Series and a Henry Big Boy X.

My goal is to buy a rifle that I can keep for life and eventually pass on to my children, so I’m looking for something reliable, durable, and well-built rather than simply the cheapest option.

For those of you who have owned or shot both:

● Which one would you choose and why?
● How do they compare in terms of build quality and long-term durability?
● Is the Marlin really worth the extra money?
● Are there any recurring issues with either platform?

I’d mainly use it for recreational shooting and as a classic “do-it-all” lever gun, and mostly for home-defense !

Btw I prefer already the modern design of the Marlin dark series !

Thanks in advance for your advice and experiences!
