Just recorded some sounds from my throat and turned that into a bass backing track.

I've been really enjoying the Arp Adventure arpeggiator in GarageBand. You can get some great rhythmic noise out of it. In this track, a lot of the sounds and textures actually come from that arpeggiator.
My usual workflow:
I write a part in MIDI first, then bounce it to audio. After that, I start throwing plugins on it and tweaking the sound — twisting knobs, shaping it until it feels right.
Highly recommend giving Arp Adventure a try if you haven't already.
I write music in GarageBand. I think it's an excellent DAW — it's super convenient to be able to compose music on my phone whenever I have it at hand. I also have an iRig, and I record guitar and bass parts live.
