How much does Copilot Cowork cost? Real-Life Examples

Microsoft 365 Copilot enters a new era. On June 16, 2026, Microsoft made Copilot Cowork generally available worldwide — an agentic AI experience that no longer just suggests, but plans, executes and delivers multi-step work across your Microsoft 365 tenant.

But with great power comes a brand new bill. Cowork introduces usage-based billing in Copilot Credits ($0.01/credit, PayGo or P3 prepaid), sitting on top of your existing Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Some early adopters (Uber, internal Microsoft teams) have already burned through entire AI budgets in months — so before you switch it on for your organization, you need a plan, a policy and a budget.

In this video, I walk you end-to-end through what Copilot Cowork is, how it compares to Claude Cowork, how the new token/credit economy works, and — most importantly — how to control the cost in the Microsoft 365 admin center before July 1, 2026, when the Frontier grace period ends.

Topics covered in the material:
▪️ Copilot Cowork licensing

▪️ Copilot Cowork Prepaid Pack P3

▪️ How much do Cowork tasks cost?

▪️ How are Cowork costs calculated?

▪️ Copilot Cowork - Light Task Example 1$

▪️ Copilot Cowork - Medium Task Example 5$

▪️ Copilot Cowork - Heavy Task Example 25$

Prepare for Copilot Cowork - Powerful but very Expensive AI tool

Hi team,

I prepared a video about the new Copilot Cowork and how to prepare for it from the perspective of cost management.

Why companies are choosing Copilot? 4 main reasons

Hi team,
Today I'm sharing a video about: Why companies are choosing Copilot? - 4 main reasons.

Maybe this material will be useful for your license discussions in the organization.

🚩 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8xfnHd4qJ8

Discover the four key unique values that companies choose Copilot as an AI Platform for business users.

1️⃣ - Privacy of the data

Microsoft 365 Copilot operates entirely within your tenant's security boundary. Organizational data — including prompts, responses, and content accessed via Microsoft Graph — is never used to train foundation models and is never shared with other tenants. Copilot respects existing access permissions, sensitivity labels, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, ensuring users can only interact with data they are already authorized to access.

2️⃣ - Access to Microsoft 365 data

Microsoft 365 Copilot accesses organizational data through WorkI Q, which connects to content across Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other M365 services. Importantly, Copilot strictly follows the existing permission model — it can only retrieve and surface data that the individual user already has access to.

3️⃣ - Multi AI Model architecture

Microsoft 365 Copilot leverages a multi-model approach, dynamically routing prompts across models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft AI based on task complexity and performance requirements.

4️⃣ - Microsoft 365 Security features

Microsoft 365 Copilot is secured through a defense-in-depth approach, leveraging core Microsoft 365 security capabilities. Entra ID Conditional Access controls who can use Copilot and from which devices and locations, while Microsoft Purview provides sensitivity labels, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) to prevent oversharing and block sensitive data from Copilot interactions.

Improve data quality for Copilot - file-level data archiving

Hi team,

Another video about improving data quality in Microsoft 365 for Copilot: File-level arching in SharePoint and in OneDrive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpk-37iyi_Qarchiving

Finally, it will be possible to enable file-level archiving of the data in SharePoint and OneDrive.

Microsoft 365 Archive will allow not only to archive whole SharePoint sites, but also specific documents in SharePoint and OneDrive.

Moving old legacy data to cold storage in the M365 Archive side will reduce your SharePoint storage costs and improve data quality in SharePoint for Copilot.

This is the feature that you should know and use in your organization.

Improve data quality for Copilot with free OCR in Microsoft 365

Hi team,

I prepared a video about free OCR you can use in Microsoft 365 and in the M365 Copilot mobile app, where you can improve your data quality and use OCR with your scans.

I’m showing how OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and mobile scanning capabilities work in Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app — turning your smartphone into a powerful document capture and AI-driven processing tool.

If you’re working with contracts, invoices, handwritten notes, or printed documents, this is one of the most practical (and underrated) features in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Moreover, I'm showing how to configure OCR for SharePoint documents to add text metadata for the search engine and Copilot for better recognition and analysis of the data.

Start to use free OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for your PDF files saved in SharePoint/OneDrive or paper documents you are scanning.

Hi team,

I prepared guidelines on how to work with overlapping meetings with New Outlook, Teams, and Copilot.

🚩 Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1DQKTGEMsg

How to stay in control of overlapping meetings using New Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Copilot. You’ll see practical ways to follow multiple meetings at once, use transcription and recording, and rely on AI-powered recaps to avoid missing critical information.

Start to use the Follow option in the new Outlook and do not join meetings you don't have to.

The session covers AI summaries, facilitator notes, audio and video recaps, and demonstrates how Copilot in Teams can analyze meetings, highlight key decisions, and answer follow‑up questions. The video is aimed at professionals who regularly multitask across meetings and want to use Microsoft 365 and Copilot to work more efficiently.

Check the new great features in Outlook, Teams and Copilot that will help you to handle overlapping meetings.
