Thank you all
Hi guys. So i posted a few days ago about connecting through usb to serial port on DosBox. Just wanted to let everyone know i got it working with all your recommendations. At the end I did use Dosbox since it was the most user friendly(for me).
Bit of an odd one
Background: So i work in industrial maintenance and one of our machines basically run on DOS, when we want to reload parameters or such we use an old XP laptop(OLD) to start up in DOS and use the serial port to connect to the control cards. Now we have other machines that only work on XP and other that we can use windows 10-11. I want to get a central computer to be able to connect to every machine.
Problem: I'm using DOSBox to run DOS on Windows 11. We have a CD the the DOS program which figured out how to access and run. We used a DB-9 Serial port to talk to the machine and obviously modern computers don't have that serial port. So I'm thinking of using a DB-9 to USB (RS232) adapter to connect to the machine, but in my head i need 2 drivers to basically run simultaneously, 1 for the 'DB-9 to USB' and then another to access the USB through DOS.
If anyone could give me advice or point me into a direction I would greatly appreciate it. (Attached image is the DB-9 port on the old laptop)
"Stripping for part"
So i don't know where else to post this so if anyone can give me direction or something i would appreciate it.
I got a cheap drone from a friend and want to strip it for parts to build my own drone(because why not) and i want to learn more about stripping electronics. What i want to learn now is how to strip the rc reciever and 'sender' and use it either on other projects or this project. If someone could tell me where i could get a pin-out and maybe a tutorial i would appreciate it. Don't know of the question is clear enough so please ask if not
ENGEL I/M maintenance
Hi guys. So I have a bit of a problem. The company i work for just bought part of a injection molding company to take products in house. So we have 13 new machines, unfortunately they did not have an existing maintenance team, they relied purely on ENGEL technicians. I myself have no experience on any injection molding machines. I have good experience in industrial maintenance in a stainless steel factory and extrusion molding. I am currently the only maintenance guy with industrial experience so can't bounce ideas of anyone. We have a problem on and EC-100 (350T)(not sure if it's the correct naming) and need someone who i can talk to. The ENGEL technicians gatekeep alot so i can't really ask all the questions i want. Is there anyone who could assist me maybe?
So I'm in a bit of a pickle. Let me just start by saying i know i was really neglectful in this, i am trying hard to do and be better. So in 2023 i renewed my drivers license but never went to collect it. I haven't really needed one for the past few years but now i need one again. A few weeks ago i also lost my wallet with my ID in. I have a reservation at an FNB to renew my ID but I'm afraid it's going to take to long since i really need my drivers license ASAP. Does anyone have advice for me?
Edit: Thank you all for the replies. I will do the temporary ID. I really appreciate all the replies
